SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Imelda Maguire Pier Road, Enniscrone, Co Sligo on the death of her husband Tom Maguire. Sympathy also to his sons, Barry, David and Kevin daughters Bernadette and Rosie sister Jacqueline, Ballina, brothers, Conor and Eddie, in-laws, grandchild­ren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

The remains were removed from McGowan’s funeral home on Sunday, January 20, to the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone. Burial took place after 1.30 p.m. Mass on Monday to St Patrick’s Cemetery Kilglass. May he rest in peace.

ENNISCRONE WALKING CLUB

ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS GAA

Our dinner dance is penciled in for Saturday, February 16, in the Diamond Coast Hotel. Former Tyrone footballer Seán Kavanagh will be our special guest on the night. More informatio­n in the coming weeks.

Well done to Easkey on qualifying for the all-Ireland Junior football final last weekend.

There was no winner of last weekend’s blotto draw. The draw continues every Saturday night, with next week’s draw in the Wild Atlantic Inn. This week’s jackpot will be €4,800.

WORKING THINGS OUT PROGRAMME

The Working Things Out programme is an evidence-based CBT programme for adolescent­s (aged 11 to 16) promoting positive mental health and teaching coping skills to overcome specific problems. The programme is a six-week course that highlights practical steps parents can take to help their children cope and thrive, as well as coping successful­ly themselves.

The programme aims to help young people build communicat­ion and conflict resolution skills in order to overcome mental health problems and to improve their relationsh­ips within their families, in school and in the community.

The programme sessions are designed around a DVD containing personal stories of adolescent­s who have coped with challengin­g mental health issues such as, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, Self-harm and Suicide, as well as issues such as, Bullying, School Pressures, and Conflict with parents. The stories offer advice on how to cope and what young people can do to help themselves.internatio­nal long-term evidence, the Parents Plus ‘Parenting when Separated’.

ENNISCRONE MEN’S SHED

A Men’s Shed is being set up in Enniscrone. If you are interested in DIY, Woodwork/Carpentry, arts and crafts, or any other area of interest, the Men’s Shed would be delighted to hear from you. A Men’s Shed is a community-based organisati­on open to ALL men regardless of age or background. It is a pressure free environmen­t in which to share skills, make new friends and connect with your community. Each member is free to participat­e in your own way and at your own pace even if all you want to do is to chat and a cup of tea.

LIBRARY NEWS

Free ‘How to use a tablet’ classes for beginners in the Enniscrone Library on Thursdays 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. starting on January 31 for four weeks. Contact Susan at 085 1341190 to make a booking or for more details.

Storybook Trail: Enniscrone Library invites all of the family to read pages of a picture book that are displayed along the hollow at Enniscrone beach. It starts beside the lifeguard tower. The book currently displayed is ‘Tiddler’ by Julia Donaldson. A different picture book will be displayed here monthly.

STUDENT DRAMA

Transition year students of Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone will be performing original short scripts as their srama this year. Doors open at 7.30 on the evening of 30th and 31st. Tickets are €7 with family concession’s. This promises to be a very entertaini­ng evening.

LOTTO

On Saturday, January 19, there was no winner of the €4,600 jackpot when the blotto draw took place in Sheridan’s Pub Kilglass. Numbers drawn were 9, 29 and 34. €25 winners were Heather Hartwick John Gilroy and Maura Harnett. Jackpot for the next draw is €4,800 and will take place in Hopkins Bar on Saturday, January 26, SOCIAL BRIDGE CLUB.

Bridge takes place at the Diamond Coast Hotel every Wednesday night commencing at 7.30 p.m.
