Summerhill College mourns sudden death of young teacher
THE funeral took place yesterday of a young Summerhill College teacher who passed away suddenly last Friday.
Ms Kellie Leonard became ill at the college on Friday morning and was brought by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital where she subsequently passed away.
The Parents Association said it was with great sadness that it learned of the sudden and untimely death of Ms Leonard.
Requiem Mass took place at the Church of Mary Immaculate, Grange, on Monday at 12 noon with burial afterwards at Ahamlish Cemetery.
Ms Leonard is survived by her mother, Mary, and sisters, Tara and Danielle, her brother-in-law Eoin and her nephew Jack together with extended family.
She was predeceased by her father, John. The Parents Association said: “Our prayers are also with the teachers, staff and students of Summerhill College.”
As a mark of respect to their colleague and teacher, Summerhill College was closed as Ms Leonard was laid to rest yesterday.
