ALTHOUGH most of the snow had melted, driving conditions were still treacherous in some parts of the county at the weekend.

The Sligo Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist two people in difficulty on Ladies Brae on Sunday afternoon.

The two people were stranded in their vehicle and were then brought to safety by the Mountain Rescue team.

The local Mountain Rescue team said: “Today at 15.30pm SLMRT were requested by An Garda Síochana to evacuate two people who were stranded in their vehicle due to extreme weather and road conditions in the Ladies Brae area.

“Both people were located and transported by MR personnel back to safety to the local Garda who arranged transport for them. Team stood down at 17.17 and returned to Base.”
