A 20-year-old man who was banging on doors of a student apartment complex while drunk has been fined €400.

On February 21st last, Paul Sheerin of 40, Ardnacossa Avenue, Longford, was banging on doors of the Gateway Apartments, Ballinode, Sligo.

Gardaí were notified of the disturbance at 3.25am by security staff at the apartment complex.

Sheerin was intoxicated and aggressive. He was told to leave the area and at 3.40am gardaí were once again notified of a further disturbance.

The court was told that Sheerin had no previous convictions but had previously come to the attention of gardaí. Garda Keith Marren said Sheerin was in Sligo for ‘RAG Week celebrations’. Judge Kevin Kilrane convicted him, fining him €400.
