Alleged sexual assault in Sligo

A man in his 30s has appeared in court charged with alleged sexual assault and false imprisonment.

The male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Sligo District Court where it was heard he allegedly sexually assaulted a female on August 20 th, 2018 at a location between Collooney and Strandhill.

He faces a second charge that on the same date he falsely imprisoned the female.

Garda Paul Jennings gave evidence that he met the male prior to the court and read the charges out to him. The accused made no reply to the charges.

Judge Kevin Kilrane remanded him on bail to appear again before court on February 28th next for disclosure.
