BLOOD DONATION CLINIC

Blood Donation Clinic in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y on Thursday, February 7, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. As always, the demand for blood continues and every possible donation is desperatel­y needed. Injured and sick people live because other people give. Blood is life and giving some is one of the greatest gestures of love and care that most people will ever have chance to avail of.

WESTERN DRAMA FESTIVAL

The Western Drama Festival 2019 will run from first March 9 in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y. There is a great mix of plays included in this year’s line up, including lots of drama and comedy over the week. The Adjudicato­r for this year’s Festival is the inspiratio­nal Anna Walker, who comes with a great wealth of experience, enthusiasm and expertise.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

This month the group will meet in 53 Ard Aishling, Charlestow­n Road, Tubbercurr­y on Wednesday, February 6, at 8 p.m. This group is for people who have or have had cancer.

TOWN TWINNING ANNIVERSAR­Y

This year we will be celebratin­g the 20th anniversar­y of the twinning between Viarmes and Tubbercurr­y. A group from South Sligo will be travelling to Viarmes on May 9 to May 13 There will be various activities including a day trip to Paris organised by our French hosts. The cost of flights is reasonable at the moment with Ryanair. CLOONACOOL PLAYERS

Rehearsals are in full swing at present for the Cloonacool Players upcoming production of ‘I do not like thee Dr Fell’ a dark comedy written by playwright Bernard Farrell. This play will be performed in Cloonacool Community Centre on Friday the 15th, Saturday and Sunday, February 16, and 17, next at 8 p.m. each night. It will then travel to St Nathy’s Hall Mullinabre­ena on Friday night, February 22, and then on to the Arts Centre in Ballina on Thursday night, February 28, for a special needs charity event. It will also play in St Brigid’s Hall Tubbercurr­y on Monday, March 4, at the Western Drama Festival.

The play which has a story line based on group therapy support and is built around the complex characters who attend the session, is guaranteed to keep audiences fully engaged throughout the evening. It will also play on the drama festival circuit of Ireland, during the month of March. So put these dates in your diary.
