SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Delia and Harry Kilcullen, Caltra, Culleens on the death of their son-in-law Liam Quinn, Westport and Raheny, Dublin. Sympathy is extended also to his wife Breege, daughters Polyanna and Matilda, his parents Bríd and John brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Liam was laid to rest in Aughagower Cemetery on Friday, January 25, after midday Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Aughagower. May he rest in peace.

SYMPATHY is extended to the brothers Paul and Pat, sister Mary on the sudden death of their sister Teresa Bruen, Ballyogan, Culleens. Sympathy is extended also to her nephews, nieces, gran nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends. Remains were removed from McGowan’s Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, to the Church of the Holy Family, Kilglass. Burial took place in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass on Friday, January 25, after 11 a.m. Mass in Kilglass Church. May she rest in peace.

ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS GAA

AGM REPORT – Last Fridays club AGM in the clubhouse was held in front of the largest crowd in recent memory. The usual reports were delivered by chairman Declan, secretary Brendan and treasurer Eugene. All reflected on a year of good progress in 2018 on the field, and a very busy year off it, including the successful hosting of several high-profile fixtures at Quigabar. Thereafter, the meeting considered the election of officers. The only major change is in the position of president, where John P Mullaney was elected to succeed Oliver Bourke after he stepped down following two years in the role. Oliver’s very active period in the position was the subject of much praise from the floor. Paul Tuffy was elected the club’s new Vice-president. Other changes included Thomas McManus being elected at our new county board delegate.

INDOOR COACHING – Indoor underage coaching continues every Friday evening in our astroturf building. Under-eight is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., under-10 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and under-12 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

DINNER DANCE – Tickets for our club dinner dance on February 16 in the Diamond Coast Hotel are now on sale. They are available for €25 from Sheridan’s Kilglass, The Wild Atlantic Inn Kinard and Queenan’s Checkout Enniscrone. Our guest on the evening will be Tyrone legend Seán Cavanagh.

ENNISCRONE MEN’S SHED

A Men’s Shed is being set up in Enniscrone. If you are interested in DIY, Woodwork/Carpentry, arts and crafts, or any other area of interest, the Men’s Shed would be delighted to hear from you. A Men’s Shed is a community-based organisati­on open to ALL men regardless of age or background. It is a pressure free environmen­t in which to share skills, make new friends and connect with your community. Each member is free to participat­e in your own way and at your own pace even if all you want to do is to chat and a cup of tea.

LIBRARY NEWS

Free ‘ How to use a tablet’ classes for beginners in the Enniscrone Library on Thursdays 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. starting on January 31 for four weeks. Contact Susan at 085 1341190 to make a booking or for more details.

Storybook Trail: Enniscrone Library invites all of the family to read pages of a picture book that are displayed along the hollow at Enniscrone beach. It starts beside the lifeguard tower. The book currently displayed is ‘Tiddler’ by Julia Donaldson. A different picture book will be displayed here monthly.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the €4,600 jackpot when the blotto draw took place on Saturday, January 26, in Sheridan’s Pub Kilglass. Numbers drawn were 10, 11 and 39. €25 winners were Frank Igoe, Una Walsh, Jimmy Tighe, Linda Mitchell. Jackpot for the next draw is €5,000 and will take place in Ocean Sands Hotel on Saturday, February 2.

SOCIAL BRIDGE CLUB

Bridge takes place at the Diamond Coast Hotel every Wednesday night commencing at 7.30 p.m. The winners for January 23 were. N/S Sally Egan and Loretta Tuffy, E/W Breege Cafferty and Carthage Cusack. The Winners for January 30 were N/S Kevin and Teresa McLaughlin, E/W Jack Kennedy and Gerry Boland. The Martin Freeman trophy will be played for over the coming two weeks, first night will be a draw, and back to usual pairing on the second. Anne Freeman will present the prizes to the lucky winners.
