COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT
The local group have been busy of late with works continuing on the back of grant money received in 2017. Car park lighting and a picnic area at Lavagh along with information signs at key historical sites in the area are great additions to the parish. Well done to the committee on all the hard work.
PARK LIGHTS
The new walking track at Nace O’Dowd Park will continue with the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ initiative every Thursday in February from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Temporary lights are in place in conjunction with the local Operation Transformation programme and Get Ireland Walking. Everyone welcome.
RSS SCHEME
A position is now available on the Sligo Leader Rural Social Scheme at Nace O’Dowd Park Achonry. Contact Declan Foley at 087 6263299 or any club officer for details.
NEW LOTTO
Coolaney-Mullinabreena GAA have relaunched their lotto fundraiser in the last week. All proceeds go towards day to day club expenses along with park development expenses. It is hoped all existing subscribers will renew and new subscribers are very welcome. All support is greatly appreciated.
CLOONACOOL PLAY
The Cloonacool Players will bring their production of ‘I Do Not Like Thee Dr Fell’ to St Nathy’s Hall on Sunday, February 24, at 8 p.m. Proceeds to the local Community Enhancement Group. A great night’s entertainment is promised.
SOUND OF MUSIC
Rehearsals are now in full swing for the Phoenix Players forthcoming production of ‘The Sound Of Music’. It will be staged on 29th, March 30 and 31 and third, fourth, April 5 and six in St Bridgid’s Hall, Tubbercurry. Producer/Director Tom Walsh has assembled a cast of eighty, ranging in ages from eight to 80 from all over South Sligo. There are quite a number of our own parish people involved. Tickets will go on sale at the end of February so watch this space.
DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING
The next Defibrillator training will take place later in February. There are a number of places left on the course. Please contact Lorraine Feely at 087 6779836 as soon as possible.
SPRING CLEAN
The National spring clean initiative will be held again this year and the local group will organise a litter pick for a week in either March or April. More details later.
25 CARD GAME
The popular 25 card game continues every Friday in St Nathy’s Hall at 8.30 p.m. New players are always welcome.
SET DANCING
Set dancing continues in St Nathy’s Hall every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. Junior sets are from 7.45 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. and proving really popular in recent weeks. If sufficient numbers attend, the classes will continue for the winter.
