THERE were several outstandin­g displays from Sligo Athletics club athletes this week starting off in Athlone IT on Wednesday 13th February where Sligo AC competed in the under 13 mixed relay event finishing an impressive second place, the team was made up of Brian Mc Cabe,Tom Mc Cabe, Sarah Flavin and Rachel Mc Goldrick

IRISH life National Senior Indoor Championsh­ips

THE Irish life National Senior Indoor Championsh­ips took place in Abbotstown on the 16th and 17th February and saw Orlaith and Eva Delahunt compete in the Senior Women’s 3000m walk. In a very competitiv­e race, Orlaith finished 5th 14:48 and Eva 9th in a time of 16:10.

ALSO in action were Lauren and Aaron Cadden both competing in the 60m sprint. Lauren ran 7:72 in her heat which saw her qualify. The Final was highly competitiv­e with Molly Scott winning in 7:33. Lauren finished 8th in 7:75. Aaron Cadden completed his heat in a time of 7:14 which seen him qualify for a place in the semi final. TONY Mc Gowan Run 5k/10k/ Half Marathon

A crew of Sligo AC runners made the trip to Drumshanbo on the 17th of February to compete in the scenic Tony Mc Gowan Run across the blueway boardwalk. CONGRATS to Fintan Whelan who was the first Sligo AC male home in the half marathon running a time of 1:28:41 followed closely by John Whelan 1:29:15 and Enda Whelan in 1:54:19

GREAT running all round in the 10k race, Gerry Gilmartin was the first Sligo AC home in 39:39, Bill Carty was next in 40:02, Paul Reilly 47:47, Noirin Kelly 47:55, Aisling Kennedy 49:28, Hugh Mc Gowan 50:36, Tara Savage 59:47

 ??  ?? A youth conditioni­ng programme hosted by Sligo GAA Coaching & Games is running in 4 venues throughout the county. They are; Enniscrone GAA astro (Wednesday 7-8pm), Banada Hall (Thursday 7-8pm), Colaiste Muire Ballymote (Friday 7-8pm) and the Tennis Club (Friday 8-9:30pm).
