COMMUNITY ENHANCEMEN­T

The local group have been busy of late with works continuing on the back of grant money received in 2017. Car park lighting and a picnic area at Lavagh along with informatio­n signs at key historical sites in the area are great additions to the parish. Well done to the committee on all the hard work.

PARK LIGHTS

The new walking track at Nace O’Dowd Park will continue with the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ initiative every Thursday in February from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Temporary lights are in place in conjunctio­n with the local Operation Transforma­tion programme and Get Ireland Walking. Everyone welcome.

NEW LOTTO

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA have relaunched their lotto fundraiser in the last week. All proceeds go towards day to day club expenses along with park developmen­t expenses. It is hoped all existing subscriber­s will renew and new subscriber­s are very welcome. All support is greatly appreciate­d. The club wish to thank all who have signed up to date.

CLOONACOOL PLAY

The Cloonacool Players will bring their production of ‘I Do Not Like Thee Dr Fell’ to St Nathy’s Hall on Sunday, February 24, at 8 p.m. Proceeds to the local Community Enhancemen­t Group. A great night’s entertainm­ent is promised. Tickets available by contacting 087 6235468.

SOUND OF MUSIC

Rehearsals are now in full swing for the Phoenix Players forthcomin­g production of ‘The Sound Of Music’. It will be staged on 29th, March 30 and 31 and third, fourth, April 5 and six in St Bridgid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y. Producer/Director Tom Walsh has assembled a cast of eighty, ranging in ages from eight to 80 from all over South Sligo. There are quite a number of our own parish people involved. Tickets will go on sale at the end of February so watch this space.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR TRAINING

The next Defibrilla­tor training will take place later in February. There are a number of places left on the course. Please contact Lorraine Feely at 087 6779836 as soon as possible.

MEN’S SHED

A conversati­on has been started locally about the possibilit­y of starting up a Man’s Shed group. Anyone interested can contact the local Community Enhancemen­t Group.

SPRING CLEAN

The National spring clean initiative will be held again this year and the local group will organise a litter pick for a week in either March or April. More details later.
