1 CHICAGO
Pop Up Theatre bring to Sligo a sensational production of the Broadway smash hit musical CHICAGO, from Wednesday to Saturday nightly(2:30pm Sat matinee also). With classic numbers such as All That Jazz, We Both Reached for the Gun and Razzle Dazzle, the all singing all dancing cast will bring you a night of entertainment you will never forget! 2 OLD HANNAH
Old Hannah will mark the release of their debut album ‘Borealis’ with a Sligo launch gig in Andersons Grill and Bar on Saturday 20th April. This album sees Old Hannah expand their creativity and appeal far beyond the bounds of the Irish and North American folk and country traditions that coloured their early work.
3 A COUNTRY DANCE WITH MIKE DENVER
A country dance with Mike Denver takes place at Anderson’s Live, Kempton Promenade, Sligo this Friday 19th April, doors open 10pm. Mike Denver, known as “The Galway Boy”, is one of Ireland’s top entertainers, having this year celebrated 15 years in the entertainment scene. He is well aware that the people that come to his shows looking for a good night of entertainment and that’s what he provides.
4 JUMP
At the end of an extensive national tour which began last November, and which included showings of her work in some of Europe’s moist prestigious film festivals (ARFF Amsterdam and WRPN International Women’s Festival) Sligo based artist Cléa van der Grijn is bringing her acclaimed exhibition and film “JUMP” home to Sligo.
5 MOXIE AT ANDERSON’S LIVE
Fresh from their National Concert Hall appearance, Where they performed their music with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in March, Moxie return to Sligo on Sudnay where brothers Ted and Jos Kelly began their musical careers. Tickets are €12:50 from Eventbrite or €15 on the Door. The event takes place at Anderson’s.
6 COLOUR RUN
A 5 km Colour Run takes place in Doorly Park on Easter Monday, April 22nd at 3pm, in support of Teen Mental Health Awareness. It is a family fun day and the event is free so all can participate. There will be young speakers along with live music. Participants are invited to wear old clothes, preferably white.
7 A BROADSIDE
The Model presents an exhibition of A Broadside, a publication edited by Jack B. Yeats and published by Dun Emer and Cuala Press each month from June
1908 – May 1915 which opens this Saturday.
8 BRAD COLE
The songs of Brad Cole address the ups and downs of the human condition with both wit and raw insight. His passionate and distinctive delivery of roots-based folk music, woven with the grit and groove of old school bossa and rhythm & blues moves the listener’s soul in a direction that is unexpected, yet perfectly familiar. He comes to the Glens Centre, Manorhamilton this Saturday.
9 DOROTHY CROSS, CROQUET
The Model presents Dorothy Cross, Croquet, an installation work dating from 1994, opening this Saturday. During that period, Cross became interested in cowskins and udders, and used both in her work in surreal or absurd settings to challenge concepts of the masculine and the feminine, as well as the civilized and the primal.
10 EGGSTRAVAGANZA
Sligo Folk Park are calling on all junior EGGSplorers to join in the annual EGGStravagaza Easter Egg hunt which this year is partnering with Cadburys Chocolate in fundraising for Barnardos children’s charity. Mollie and Lizzie Rabbit will be leading the way on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th April from 12noon-3pm
