CLUB AGM

PLEASE note that the club A.G.M. takes place in the Centre of Excellence on Sunday December 1st at 7.00pm. Nomination forms have been circulated by email. This is the biggest meeting of the year. It gives an insight to all aspects of the club and of the work that goes on behind the scenes. A large attendance is essential. SCÓR na nÓg COOLERA/STRANDHILL GAA are looking for singer, dancers, musicians and quizzers to represent the club at under 17 level in the Scór na nÓg County Final on Sunday December 1st. DRUMCLIFFE/ROSSES POINT

CONGRATULA­TIONS to the Sligo under 16 Gaelic footballer­s who retained the Fr Manning Cup last Saturday with an impressive 1-11 to 1-5 win over Laois. We have four DRP players involved: Ciarán O’Reilly (who captained the side), Ciarán Smith, Cian Oates and Hugh Keaney.

OUR end-of-season Juvenile awards night will take place on Friday, December 6th, in Rathcormac Hall at 7:30pm. This event will mark the terrific achievemen­ts of all our football and hurling teams (girls and boys) from under 12 to minor. All are welcome.

THE Club AGM for 2019 will take place on Sunday, December 8th. Time and venue tbc later this week. WELL done to the new Rosses Point community choir who sang with gusto for the ‘Sligo Sings’ exravangan­za at the Hawk’s Well theatre last Saturday night. Several DRP club members were part of the choir. They can hold a good note. Congrats all!

ST Johns AGM

THE St Johns GAA Club Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday next December 1st in The Sligo Park Hotel starting at 5.00pm. All members and anybody from our area who has an interest in GAA are invited to attend. CONGRATULA­TIONS

A huge congratula­tions and well done to the St Johns Ladies GAA who have won the CLUB Of THE YEAR award at the recent awards ceremony and to Olivia Flannery and Keith McLoughlin who were awarded THE COUNTY VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR award for all the great work they have done for ladies football. ST Johns club wish to sympathise with Padraig Gorman and the Gorman family on the recent passing of his twin brother Peadar in Lavagh. May his gentle soul rest in peace. CONGRATULA­TIONS to Dara Foy and Daire O’Boyle who were on the winning Sligo U16 team that won the Manning Cup on Saturday.

THE club lotto draw was held in the clubhouse on Thursday November 21st, the numbers drawn were 7, 13, 15, 19. There was no jackpot winner, one match 3 winner Edel Hackett, Kiltycahil­l €50. The promoters prize was won by David Dykes, Colgagh, Calry. Next draw will be held in the clubhouse on Wednesday December 11th with a Jackpot prize of €8100. ST NATHY’S

ST Nathy’s Ladies will be hosting a Christmas Tractor, Motorbike & Vintage Run on Sunday 8th December in Bunninadde­n. Registrati­on will take place at the community centre at 11am and the Run will commence at 12. FOR our younger drivers we will have a mini tractor & tricycle run at 11.30am. There will be a variety of prizes up for grabs including a prize for “Pimp My Tractor” so get your creative caps on.

TO kick start the festive season there will be fun activities and refreshmen­ts in the hall and a visit from a very special someone with a sack full of treats. AFTER the event the club will be making a donation to two charities very close to our hearts. PLEASE come along and support this cause, all help is greatly appreciate­d by our players and members.

EASTERN HARPS

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Dylan Walsh, James Kiernan and Matt Henry who represente­d Sligo on route to winning the U16 Manning Cup final against Laois last Saturday on a scoreline of 1:11 to 1:05. Congratula­tions to Annette O’Hara and John McDermott on the birth of their baby boy recently. Our nursery programme is now on Mondays from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the clubhouse in Keash. It will run for 4 weeks and is aimed at children aged 4-6 years old. Bingo continues, as usual, every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen where the jackpot is €1,500 in 45 calls or less and the in house lotto is €400.

The club meeting which was postponed due to the sudden death of club stalwart Seamus Kelly will now take place this Wednesday 27th at 9pm in the Units.

All who are taking part in the upcoming Lip Sync are asked to have representa­tives at the meeting. The Lip Sync will be taking place on the 29th December. Other dates for your dairy are the upcoming Race night in Kellys Bar on the 6th of December, followed by Table Quiz on the 14th December in Innisfree Bar.

Congratula­tions to clubman Simon McKeon member of the Sligo team who won the Manning Cup at the weekend beating Laois to win the competitio­n outright. Simon was the scorer of 2 points for the team.

THE Bord Ná Nóg AGM takes place this Wednesday 27th at 8pm in the clubhouse. THE Club AGM was held on Thursday night last and it gave delegates an opportunit­y to reflect on the footballin­g year just ended and to plan ahead for 2020. All of the outgoing officers who made themselves available for re-election were returned unopposed. HANDBALL

SLIGO HANDBALL NOTES THE 4-Wall Doubles competitio­n finishes this Monday, with Team A playing Team C in the final. Games start at 7.30 pm, all welcome to come and support both teams in the final. COLLOONEY and Drumcliffe hosted the first 4 Wall handball blitz last Sunday with clubs from Leitrim and Mayo taking part. Over 40 juveniles played in more than 40 games in both clubs, well done to all players, parents and organisers. The next Blitz will be hosted in Annaduff and Fenagh, Leitrim on the 8th of December. SLIGO’S Gerry Coleman has been shortliste­d for a GAA Handball All-Star as Volunteer of the Year, representi­ng Collooney, Sligo and Connaught. They can be purchased from various club members with the draw taking place on the 1st of December. Prizes include a 5 kW stove to loads of turf, coal, sticks, briquettes as well as cash prizes.

FR Manning Cup – Well done to the Sligo U16 team who retained the Fr Manning cup at the weekend. They beat Laois in Pearse Park in Longford by 1-11 to 1-05. Well done to Ronan Keenan who represente­d the Ballymote club on this county panel.

U6 Nursery – The nursery for 4-6 year olds is currently up and running in Colaiste Muire and will run for a number of weeks. Time is 6 – 6.45 pm and cost is 2 euro a child.

U8 Pella – U8 Pella (indoor gaelic) takes place with Ross Donovan in Colaiste Muire on Thursday evenings from 6 -7 pm. Cost is 2 euro per child. STRENGTH and Conditioni­ng - Takes place with Ross Donovan in Colaiste Muire on Thursday evenings from 7 -8 pm. Aimed at 13-16 year olds.

AGM – The club AGM is on next Sunday, 1 December at 6pm in the Rock. All current and new members are welcome to attend.

U-13

Pride of place goes to our U-13 players and their management team after they captured the ‘B’ Féile title in fine style at Tourlestra­ne last Thursday evening, overcoming the challenge of Curry by 2-12 to 0-6 in the final. Having controlled much of the first half, the lads were 0-6 to 0-2 up at half-time and powered on after the break to end as twelve-point winners. This is just reward for this group and they will now represent Sligo at Féile next summer in Donegal, Derry and Tyrone. Congratula­tions to everyone involved.
