Michael Murphy and Gavin Tully exchanged early points before Conor Davey struck AbbVie’s opening goal after 5 minutes.

Cathal Boland’s effort came back off the crossbar and Davey reacted fastest to rattle home.

Eoin McCormack added two further points for the winners before Tadhg McKenna fired home AbbVie’s second goal on 12 minutes. This left the Sligo side eight clear.

From the resultant kickout VistaMed has an instant response when Gavin Tully fed Darragh Kelly who fired home. Sean McKeon added two points in succession and the margin was down to three in the 16th minute.

AbbVie lifted the siege and kicked three points in quick succession with Neil Ewing and Conor Davey(2) both finding the range.

AbbVie added a third goal in the 25th minute when Eoin McCormack fired home at the second attempt.

They finished with a flourish with points from Tadhg McKenna(2), Neil Ewing and Noel Plunkett on target. Derek O’Donnell replying for VistaMed as AbbVie were in a commanding position at the interval.

In an open contest, Derek O’Donnell and Darragh Gallagher exchanged points before pointed frees from O’Donnell and Sean McKeon left eight between the sides as the match entered the final quarter.

VistaMed were battling hard to get back into the match and had a golden opportunity to set up a dramatic final 10 minutes when they were awarded a penalty when Declan Daly was impeded as he was about to shoot.

Derek O’Donnell’s penalty was saved by Paul Groden at the expense of a 45. AbbVie were not going to be caught and finished stronger with further scores from Eoin McCormack(2) and Neil Ewing to set up a Connacht Semi-Final clash with Baxter from Mayo next week.
