Curry-Moylough
JP DUFFY
The community of Curry parish and its surrounding parishes have been shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death of JP Duffy, Bunnacrannagh while he participated in the Surf to Summit Challenge at Westport two weeks ago.
He was well known businessman and entrepreneur who had created numerous employment opportunities locally and nationally through the company he founded some 19 years ago; Westel Utilities. He was a tireless community activist supporting and financing many projects and good causes. He was a keen supporter of his native Charlestown and Mayo teams, and driving force of Curry GAA teams, managing their senior team in recent years and led the Curry Junior ladies’ team to win a Connaught championship title in 2007. His passing is a major loss to the community of South Sligo and East Mayo.
Large crowds of sympathisers attended removal of remains from his home. Mass of the Resurrection in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Curry and burial in Bunnacrannagh cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Yvonne, and children, Aoife,
Patrick, and Eanna. Brothers Christy, and Eddie. Sisters Caroline and Pearl. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, mother-in-law, father-in-law, cousins, work colleagues and neighbours and a large circle of friends. May his soul rest in peace.
PADDY JOE DOOHAN
The death occurred recently of Paddy Joe Doohan, Doocastle, a well-known craftsman and sportsman. He was a past pupil Moylough NS and Tobercurry Vocational School. He played senior football with Sligo winning senior championship medals in 1964 and 1972 with Curry club. He maintained a keen interest in all sports all his life. He was a progressive farmer who also worked in Basta Ltd, Tobercurry, GWI Collooney, and Grady Joinery Charlestown.
Large crowds of mourners attended removal of remains from Coen’s Funeral Home Tobercurry. Mass of the Resurrection in the Church of the Sacred Heart Bunninadden concelebrated by parish priest Fr Michael Reilly, Fr James McDonagh PP Ballymote, and parish priest Fr Leo Henry Curry. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Geraldine, daughters Claire, Myra, Martina, Angela, and son Pádraig, brother John, sisters Kathleen, Bridie, and Mary nieces, nephews, brothersin-law, sisters-in-law, and a large circle of friends and relations.
