Sligo Pops concert celebrates the wealth of instrumental talent to be found in Sligo and features another fabulous selection of music from your all-time favourite blockbuster film scores. With a range of soloists, duets, ensembles and orchestras, this concert will transport you to Hollywood on a movie-themed adventure this December 1st at Hawk’s Well Theatre.
5 CHRISTMAS DEMONSTRATION
County Sligo Flower and Garden Club will host a Christmas demonstration and party night with John Paul Deehan in Sligo Park Hotel, Monday 2nd December 2019 at 8pm. Members and friends welcome. Always a fabulous evening.
6 FLANN O’BRIEN
Following a short residency at the theatre this year, Ciaran McCauley will present a rehearsed reading of a work in progress on the life and work of Flann O’Brien at the Presbyterian Hall today, November 26. The performance will comprise of excerpts from the published writings of Flann O’Brien and autobiographical notes and references from his family and friends.
7 CARDUCCI QUARTET
An internationally renowned Anglo-Irish string quartet based in the UK, the versatile and award-winning Carducci String Quartet has performed everything from brand new quartets, classic works by Haydn, complete Shostakovich cycles, and even partnered with folk-rock icon Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. They come to the Glens Centre, Manorhamilton, on Friday, November 29th.
8 BOTH SIDES OF THE LOUGH
Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo and The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim have come together to commission and produce a music project across Sligo and Leitrim. Harnessing the wealth of creativity and talent available across the two counties and the project is being produced in conjunction with a number of highly skilled musicians including: Michael Rooney, Stephen Doherty and Niamh Crowley. A celebratory concert took place in Hawk’s Well last week, with the second instalment taking place at The Dock tomorrow (Wednesday).
