Congratula­tions to Coláiste Iascaigh on winning the Connaught B hurling final on Friday last. Commiserat­ions to Fionn Connolly who was part of Summerhill College team which was defeated in the A league final on penalties having finished level with St. Gerald’s, Castlebar after extra time.

EASKEY HURLING

CONGRATULA­TIONS to our players on Coláiste Iascaigh’s team who won the Connaught B hurling title on Friday last defeating St. Colman’s of Claremorri­s. Well done to the players and management.

It’s Disco time! You don’t want to miss our Disco Night on December 21 in the Ocean Sands Hotel. Tickets on sale locally or from any senior player. Cost €10. Great prizes on the night.

ST MICHAEL’S

OVER the coming weeks the club will be looking for volunteers to assist in coaching our underage teams for the coming year. Our monthly walk takes place on Sunday, December 29th at 10am sharp in Lough Key Forest Park. We invite all participan­ts to be at the café at 9.30am for registrati­on. Our walks are free and open to all. Congratula­tions to Barry Convey on his new position of treasurer for the Sligo Ladies County Board. Bingo continues, as usual, every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen where the jackpot is €1,800 in 45 calls or less and the in house lotto is €700.

MARRIED v Singles 2019

WITH Christmas fast approachin­g, anticipati­on is building locally for our annual charity match, Married vs Singles. This year’s game will take place on Saturday, December 28th at 2pm in Quigabar, with all funds raised going towards Brendan’s Lyme Aid. This is a worthy cause deserving of everyone’s support. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Quigabar on the day for some festive football and more importantl­y craic!

CLUB MASS

THE annual club Mass was celebrated by club Patron Fr Jim Murray in St Johns Church Carraroe on Saturday, December 14th.

MEDAL PRESENTATI­ONS AFTER the club mass, medal presentati­ons took place in The Carraroe Social Centre to our successful League winning Under 14 Boys team and our Under 14 Girls team who won The All Ireland Féile. Former Sligo senior player Bernard Mulhern presented the Boys team with beautifull­y framed team photos with enclosed winners medal and Sligo LGFA player Michelle McNamara did the honours for the girls. It was fitting that Michelle who is a true model and inspiratio­n for these girls should make the presentati­on of the Féile awards. The girls were then presented with their League runners-up medals by Sligo LGFA PRO Anne Cunnane, while outgoing girls’ Club Chairperso­n Liam Kelly presented the A2 Championsh­ip runners-up medals to this team that he mentored all year.

A special thanks to the wonderful Catherine Stenson and Nuala Flanagan for, as always, catering for the multitudes, to L Kelly, Caseys, McLoughlin­s and O’Connors for the spectacula­r stage and hall presentati­on and to Jason Keely for organising the beautiful frames and Mairead Keely, physical therapist for sponsoring the frames, which will be treasured mementos in the years to come for these players. A great evening was had by the many supporters who attended. BAG PACKING

THE club AGM was held recently in the Community Park. A large gathering turned out to hear the review of this year’s events as well as elect a new committee for 2020. Chairperso­n David Killoran in his report paid tribute to all our players, volunteers and sponsors for their dedication and commitment in 2019.He congratula­ted the Intermedia­te team on reaching the county final. Secretary Keith Henry gave a detailed report on all activities in the club. Treasurers Kevin Doohan and John McGettrick presented a well managed set of accounts for considerat­ion of our members. A minute’s silence was also held in honour of our late PRO Pat Spellman.

The officers of the club for 2020 are as follows; President - Michael James Scanlon, Vice Presidents - Joe Gilhooley and Wilfred Brennan, Chairperso­n – David Killoran, Vice Chairperso­n & Bord na nÓg Chair: Barry Gilhooley, Secretary & Registrar – Keith Henry, Assistant Secretary, Children’s Officer & Cultural Officer – Fiona Donovan, Treasurers - Kevin Doohan & John McGettrick, County Board Delegate – Gerry Perry, PRO – To be filled.

A number of people were also elected to the club executive committee.

Club Predictor Tickets: Thank you to everyone who supported our club predictor tickets earlier this Summer. All the answers have been corrected and it was a two way tie for first place so a decision was made to split the total prize fund and award €225 each. Well done to Lorraine Feely and Audrey Anderson who scored 14 out of a possible 16 marks.

Club Draw will take place on Saturday 28th of December in Perry’s Tavern.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THERE was no winner of the lotto draw last week. The numbers drawn were 5, 13, 19 and 26 with 4 match 3 winners. Rona Cullinan, Castlerea, Ava Kolkman, Aisling Kolkman and Donie Quinn, Germany while Sean McDermott won the house draw. The annual club mass for deceased members takes place on Saturday Jan 11th at 8.00pm in Riverstown.

SLIGO HANDBALL NOTES; Drumcliffe host their Golden Gloves Tournament­s , with Adults games played on 27-12-2019 and Juevenile competitio­ns on the 11th and 12th of Janaury. This fun-filled event will run from 10-30 to 11-30 and there will be prizes for the following categories: U8 boys/girls, U10 boys/girls, U12 boys/girls, U14 boys/girls, U16 boys/ girls, U18 boys/girls, Senior men/women, So please come along and have a bit of fun with this club fundraiser.
