Card games take place in Ballinacar­row Community Centre, every Thursday night at 9 p.m. Everyone welcome.

GAELS QUIZ NIGHT

The Owenmore Gaels annual Christmas Quiz will take place in Connolly’s, Collooney, on MONDAY, DECEMBER 23. A great night of fun and craic is guaranteed, so put your team together and see do you have what it takes to beat the Quiz Master, Thomas Kerins.

BE SAFE, BE SEEN

Pedestrian­s and other road users are asked to please wear high visibility clothing when out on the road this time of the year. A bus almost collided with a walker last week near Thornhill Bridge because the person was in dark clothing and hard to see.

COLLECTION THANKS

Collectors would like to thank people to give to the St Vincent de Paul collection last weekend. Anyone that is in need of help should contact the organisati­on at a local level, where your enquiry will be dealt with in strict confidence.

Carraroe PROGRESSIV­E 25 €1,000 JACKPOT

Our Christmas party Night is scheduled for this Tuesday, December 17, with a jackpot of €1,000 on 15 Games. Other prizes raffle and usual Christmas treats will be provided Please spread the word to all card players.

Our regular Progressiv­e 25 game is in Carraroe Community Centre last Tuesday with the winners on 11 games were John Clerkin/RogerMcCar­rick, Séamus McGoldrick/Dermot Mitchell, Tommy McDaniel/ Conor McDaniel. Runner-up on 10 Games were Séamus Collery/ Anthony McKeon. All players including inexperien­ced players welcome. Great night of chat and fun to be enjoyed by all.

CAROL SINGING IN CATHEDRAL

The annual Carol Singing performanc­e will take place in Sligo Cathedral next Sunday, December 22, Christmas Tree Ceremony.

The annual ceremony of lighting and blessing by Fr Jim of the Christmas Tree at Community Centre took take place Saturday evening with the parish Adult Choir and the Cornageeha Community Games Winning Choir providing beautiful Carol Singing. Everyone enjoyed refreshmen­ts afterwards We appreciate the support we have received form Sligo County Council Christmas Lights Grant Scheme and Larry Culkin Electrical for his assistance.

CARRAROE WALKING GROUP

The group continues to grow with news members joining. Thirty people enjoyed a beautiful Christmas lunch in Riverside Hotel on Monday, December 2.

On Monday the storm warning reduced those attending to 15 people who enjoyed a wonderful walk along the Garvogue River and around the Sports Complex walkway with tea or coffee and fresh scones afterwards in the Riverside Hotel.

This was the last walk for 2019 and it was agreed we would have our first walk of 2020 on Monday, January 13, meeting in foyer of Riverside Hotel at 10.50 a.m. We wish all our friends in walking a very happy Christmas and health and Happiness in 2020.

PARKING AT CHURCH AND COMMUNITY CENTRE.

Please use the designated car parks which includes around the community centre. Plenty of parking is available in safe locations.

Please avoid parking on the main road. It obstructs passing traffic and view of people leaving the community centre and church.

OCEAN RADIO

Carraroe will feature in Radio guest messages during month of December thanks to Sligo County Council ALAG Scheme and Carraroe and District Regenerati­on Associatio­n. Listen out and spread the word.

HI-VIZ

Cadra continues to distribute free Hi-Viz. We appeal to people walking or working around our community to wear Hi-Viz to ensure visibility in these dark evenings. We have a supply of free Hi-Viz available from any member of committee.

ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB LOTTO

No jackpot winner. €25 winners were Sligo Co. Co. Lotto Club High Street Sligo, Zbigniw Pixol c/o Molly Fultons, Breeda Coggins Knocknahur, Séamus Mulhern Castlebald­win. IF THEY POOP YOU SCOOP

People walking their dogs in Carraroe are requested to remove fouling please bring home and bin. Recently it was observed an individual left the dog fouling on paths where children walk into school. Pooper – scoopers are available free from the County Council.

LAKEVIEW GUILD ICA.

We are all enjoying our Monday walks with the Carraroe Walking Group.

The creative writing classes continue every Wednesday with well-known writer and poet Louise G Cole. The guild meet on the first Tuesday of the month in Carraroe Community Centre at 8 p.m. New members always welcome-for further informatio­n contact Mary at 086 3755894.

CHURCH NEWS

Carraroe Parish Choir: Parish Choir rehearsal on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along. More male singers are required.

Parish Newsletter: Items should be with us on Wednesday evening for inclusion.

The sick and Housebound: Mass is on 107FM Just tune your radio before Mass. Please let the housebound know about this service in your area.
