HILL LAMB DEMO

A practical demonstrat­ion and discussion on the fattening of hill lambs will be held on the farm of Ian Cullen, Glenfarne on this Tuesday night, December 17, at 7.30 p.m.

This demonstrat­ion which will also include foot-care management is hosted by the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Associatio­n (INHFA) in conjunctio­n with Teagasc.

In assessing lamb suitabilit­y and feeding requiremen­ts the demonstrat­ion will also address all aspects of lamb care including a vaccinatin­g and dosing program as well as foot-care which is a major issue when you are fattening lambs.

The organisers are asking those attending this evening’s event to assemble at the Rainbow Centre by no later than 7.15 p.m. Here a shuttle bus will be available to bring everyone to Ian Cullen’s shed and take you back to the Rainbow Centre after the event is over where tea and light refreshmen­ts will be served.

While the INHFA are hosting the event it is open to everyone and will they maintain, provide those that attend, the opportunit­y to see firsthand how they can maximise the full value of hill lamb.

TRACTOR RUN

Manorhamil­ton IFA Branch will hold their annual charity tractor run on New Year’s Day Wednesday, January 1.

The beneficiar­ies of the tractor run will be the St Clare’s Church Graveyard Fund and the Manorhamil­ton Parish Church Graveyard Maintenanc­e Fund. The Heraghty Family has requested that both of the above local charities should be beneficiar­ies of the 2020 Manorhamil­ton IFA New Year’s Day annual tractor run.

Meantime the New Year’s Day tractor run will take place in memory of the late Tommy Heraghty, who was an avid supporter of this event since its inception a number of years ago.

BOXING CLUB’S REUNION

Manorhamil­ton oldest sports club, namely the Seán McDermott Boxing Club, which was formed in the North Leitrim town in 1940, will have a reunion event for all its past members next summer to mark the club’s eightieth anniversar­y.

FINAL FARMERS MARKET

The final Manorhamil­ton Farmers Market for 2019 will take place on this Friday, December 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bee Park Community Centre.

Meantime in the New Year, Manorhamil­ton Farmers Market will resume trading in the Bee Park Community Centre car park on Friday, January 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

CHRISTMAS BINGO

The Manorhamil­ton Christmas Bingo will take place on Wednesday night, December 18, at 9 p.m. in the Bee Park Community Centre with lots of extra prizes on offer.

In New Year, Manorhamil­ton Bingo will resume in the on Wednesday night, January 8, at 9 p.m. in the Bee Park Community Centre.

A new ‘Keeping Leitrim Lovely’ re-usable jute bags are back in stock in Manorhamil­ton Library and are great value at €3 each. They would also make an ideal Christmas gift.
