CHRISTMAS CEILÍ

A Christmas Ceilí will be held in St Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena on Thursday, December 19 from 8.30 p.m. till 11.30 p.m. . Music by Liaghne Ceilí band. Admission is €10. Refreshmen­ts will be served.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The ever popular Christmas Variety Concert takes place on Sunday, December 22, at 6 p.m. in St Nathy’s Hall. Special guests this year are Toy Show Tom and Nanny Pat. Tom Cullen and his nanny Pat, from Carrick on Shannon, will be a great attraction on the night and no doubt will receive a huge welcome. All welcome along for what promises to be a brilliant evening of entertainm­ent for all the family.

COMMUNITY GROUP AGM REPORT

The AGM of the AMCE Group which was held recently. The names of the newly elected members of the committee are as follows: chairman: Michael Toolan, vice-chairman: Bernie Finan, secretary: Caroline Coleman, Assistant secretary: Margaret Gallagher, treasurer: Micheál O’Dowd and Martin Coleman, PRO: Bríd McDonagh and Assistant PRO: Elaine Conroy.

At the AGM, the committee reviewed the number of projects undertaken this year including the clean-up of the parish, the plant swap, the signage and picnic area, the Knocknashe­e walk and Carrowmore school. The book swap is ongoing and anyone that wishes to donate, buy or swap books can do so by contacting Ann Marie Gorman or any committee member.

ST STEPHEN’S DAY RUN

The 2019 annual St Stephen’s Day 5k fun run/walk takes place in Tubbercurr­y on Thursday, December 26, The event has grown hugely over the last few years and all proceeds go to an excellent cause in SHOUT (Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust).

DANIEL DAVEY EVENT

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA Healthy Club Committee will host top Nutritioni­st Daniel Davey for a free/open informatio­n talk on Friday, January 17, in St Attracta’s Community School. The event will be sports related but also have a general nutritiona­l focus for a much broader audience. Daniel, a former club player, is achieving great success with his best selling book ‘Eat Up Raise

Your Game’ across the country and this event is sure to capture the attention of the entire south Sligo community and beyond. The event, though free, will be ticketed. More details soon. Check the club Facebook page for updates.

CLUB AGM

The Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA Club AGM will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Coolaney Community Centre at 6 p.m. . All members are welcome to attend. Please contact secretary Eugene if your are interested in getting involved with the club for the coming year.

KNOCKNASHE­E TALK

Cormac McSparron and Dirk Brandherm of THE KNOCK NA SHEE PROJECT have been in contact and wish to return to St Nathy’s Hall for a talk about their work on Knocknashe­e regarding their findings during the excavation along with their plans for 2020. RESOURCE CENTRE NEWS

Christmas party for the community takes place here today December 17 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We will have mince pies and other treats, and hot drinks and some entertainm­ent. Anyone interested in joining us should call 071 9197818 and we will add their name to the list.

The centre will close for Christmas on Friday, December 20, and will reopen on Monday, January 6. We wish you all a happy Christmas and a peaceful 2020.
