TUBBERCURRY’97 DVD

In 1997 as part of the ‘Tubbercurry 600’ Celebrations a special Video Project was commissioned recording various aspects of Life in Tubbercurry over the year 1997. Now 22 years later, the First Part of a Trilogy of DVDs is available – Tubbercurry 1997 Part I.

It features a series of short Interviews with a number of business people of the town, describing their business, the changes they have seen over the years and their outlook for the future as they say it at that time. Costing €15 each they are now on sale in the following outlets: Murphy’s Spar Supermarket, John Gillespie Sportswear, K & B Hardware, Daybreak, Roger McCarrick, Auctioneers, Margaret Kennedy and Brennan’s Bar, Cloonacool.

Proceeds are in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations are extended to Majella Armstrong (née McGinley) who was recently promoted to Garda Superintendent, and is based in the Phoenix Park Dublin. Majella is daughter of Eamon and Kathleen McGinley of Oughambaun Tubbercurry. Her dad Eamon was Garda Sergeant in Tubbercurry during the 1980s and 90s and Majella obviously developed her interest from his encouragement.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Our latest book in the Way That It Was series, ie No IV, is selling well and we are very pleased to hear that so many people are enjoying its historic stories and varied articles. The book, retailing at €15, will be widely available at various local outlets for the Christmas market.

We wish all our members, friends and our local community every blessing for Christmas. Nollaig Shona daoibh go leir.

BREAK IN’S

A number of break in’s have occurred in the Tubbercurry area over the last few weeks and householders are advised to be vigilant in the run up to Christmas when extra money may be lying around houses. The public are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to the Gardaí and Neighbourhood Watch.
