E.U. EntitlEmEnt TrADinG
TRADING E.U. entitlements for both sale and lease is now in full swing, and Tubbercurry based Auctioneer, Roger McCarrick reports brisk levels of activity as we enter the last few weeks of trading.
Many farmers with land without entitlements still do not realise that they can maximise payments off their land by leasing in entitlements into their Herd Number. These entitlements are transferred from a farmer with too many entitlements to a farmer who does not have enough.
Agents such as Roger McCarrick of Auctioneers REA McCarrick & Sons facilitate this transfer and liaise with Farm Advisors for both parties to have the transaction completed. The agents also handle the financial transaction for both parties.
All transactions must be lodged with the Department of Agriculture before May 15 th, so Roger McCarrick is encouraging all farmers who are looking for entitlements to contact them as soon as possible to discuss their requirements.
The value of entitlements varies from one lot to the next, but each hectare of ground can facilitate one unit of entitlement. If you are farming for example 10 hectares of land without entitlements you could lease in or purchase 10 units of entitlements and you would be paid for these in October when normal payments are made.
If farmers are unsure of their position they should discuss their options with their Farm Advisor to maximise income.
In these days of tight financial profits in the farming sector all avenues of income should be pursued.
Roger McCarrick is carrying on business over the phone and on line despite the COVID-19 restrictions of travel and meeting people.
