CASTLECONNOR

SO the lockdown continues for another few weeks. We hope everyone is staying safe and well.

TO keep us occupied we are putting out a call to all our friends and members who have any old Castleconnor GAA related Photographs, Newspaper Clippings or any other Castleconnor GAA related artifacts.

ANYTHING really from the recent past to the distant past.

YOU can email them into us at pro.castleconnor.sligo@gaa.ie or whatsapp to club phone 085 776183.

FOR those with hard copies, if you message us we can get them collected, we will scan them in and return to you unharmed. So come on everyone, lets see what we can dig up!

Our Bin the Boredom challenge has continued to run very well and on Sunday evening (5th April) we drew the winners for two Sligo Jerseys and some club gear. We’ve been delighted with the response to our challenge.

204 individuals have posted a video online as we closed entries which is an amazing response.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did trying to get the ball in the bin and then watching everyone else’s attempts. We’ve been so impressed that, in addition to the two Sligo Jerseys we promised to raffle off, we have also raffled off some Castleconnor gear left over from last year.

We hope everyone had a lot of fun taking part and it was great to see young and old giving it a go.

We encourage everyone to try and keep active and use a ball while doing it.

EASTERN Harps GAA club like all other clubs throughout the entire Country has suspended all club activity and this is likely to continue for some weeks to come. IT is great that many coaches are continuing to communicate with teams through various social media channels and we encourage you to continue this form of engagement.

WE plan to continue with more activities in the weeks ahead which are aimed at keeping lines of communication open. Also at the start of the restrictions on movement, our club issued a call for anyone looking for assistance during the crisis to contact the club’s representatives who are prepared to provide help. SEVERAL club members including some of our senior players have signed up and are available to offer assistance to anyone who requires it.

WE have also signed up to the “Lets club together to help the community” initiative in conjunction with Sligo GAA and Musgraves Super Valu, Centra. Our annual members draw usually takes place during the month of May. UNFORTUNATELY due to the current crisis, we will need to postpone the draw until later in the summer.

WE will confirm a date as soon as is

possible to do so.

THIS is just a temporary measure to get us through the current situation and the draw will revert to the normal date for 2021.

IN the meantime, we ask everyone to play their part in taking note of HSE advice. Take care and remember “Stay at Home”. The club would like to extend sympathy to the family and friends of Martina Regan of Mahanagh, Cloonloo and to the family and friends of Anthony Henry of Tubbercurry who passed away recently.

ENNISCRONE/KILGLASS

COMPETITION TIME – Though we are not able to get our various teams together collectively, we can all practice our skills individually, and who better to show us how it’s done than Dublin’s six time All-Ireland winner Ciaran Kilkenny. He was on hand at Quigabar to launch our new kicking competition for all our underage club footballers.

WHAT to do, Your job is to kick the ball into a bucket/bin/basket from 20 metres, record it and tag our social media page in your post on whatever social media site you prefer (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram).

ONCE all entries are in, we’ll be doing a draw for each age group from all the posts with the winners set to receive one of our brand new intermediate team jerseys, which will be launched in the coming weeks, So get kicking and Good Luck.
