Keep in shape from the comfort of your own home

-

ALTHOUGH the coronavirus has put an end - for now - to gyms and fitness centres being available for the general public to exercise, there are still loads of ways to keep in shape from the comfort of your own home.

The importance of keeping active is vital to our physical and mental wellbeing. Even a short period of light exercise each day can help keep the body in shape, and also aid mental wellbeing.

Exercising at home means we may not have access to the equipment that is available in a gym or at a local outlet, but instead it offers us a chance to get creative and find how best we can make do with what we have available to us.

If you are confined to your home, and keen to keep as active as possible, set aside a time three or four times a week - or how often you would like - to engage in some exercise in your house. This could be as simple as talking a walk, doing some simple exercises in your living room or using the implements you have to add weight to your exercise.

While it is easy to make the excuse that we don’t have the elaborate equipment we may find in a gym, a chair or a schoolbag can become a useful piece of equipment at home to aid exercise. It’s all about trying to be inventive, and enjoying it while you are doing it.

So, make sure to make the time to do what you can to keep active. Take a look at some different exercises that you could make work in your home, and go from there. You will enjoy it, feel better for it and it offers a chance to do something different.
