FESTIVAL CANCELLED

Manorhamilton’s Golden Jubilee International Wild Rose Festival scheduled to take place from Sunday, July 18, to Sunday, July 26, has been cancelled due to Coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions.

The Festival’s cancellation is major disappointment for the hard working Festival Committee and for everyone in the Manorhamilton area, especially since the highly popular local event first took place in the North Leitrim town some 50 years ago in 1970.

The Coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions also caused the cancellation of this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade for which a number of groups and individuals had created floats on the Parade’s green environmental theme of ‘Cycle Recycle.’

Following the cancellation of the St Patrick’s Day parade it was planned to highlight theses floats in the Wild Rose Festival parade on Sunday, July 18, but that has now fallen by the wayside with the Festival’s abandonment.

Announcing the recent cancellation decision the Festival Committee stated ‘it is with great sadness that the Wild Rose Festival Committee have made the decision that the festival will not take place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but please God next year we will be back bigger and better in 2021.

‘Look after yourself and each other till then’ the Festival Committee added as they look forward having Manorhamilton buzzing again in July 2021.

Manorhamilton’s Masterson NS students had fun when dressing up as their favourite character on World Book Day. Senior pupils visited the Junior Room so all the pupils could show off their costumes. Children enjoyed telling others about their favourite books and characters. The junior pupils made beautiful bookmarks while the seniors enjoyed a quiz all about the great author Roald Dahl.
