We will also have a special guest in attendance as we talk football and coaching with our own Barnes Kelly who is currently coaching in the Sligo Development Squads. After a brief interview starting at 10pm, we will move onto the draw.

U12 Skills Contest

NEXT week our U12s will take part in a skills contest pilot. Our kids will represent the club in a skills contest against other teams. Each week a selection of the team will be asked to do a skills test, upload a video and these will be compared to our opponents’ video and a result declared. If the idea is successful it will be rolled out to the other age groups.

In the meantime, the hard working Sligo coaches are busy setting challenges for all the children in the county and we strongly encourage all to take part and enjoy the practice.

Development Sub-Committee The club will be setting up a development committee to look at some projects for 2020 by examining the contents of our recent club survey and work on a new 5 year plan. Anyone who is interested in being part of the sub-committee please let us know by replying to this email or phone/text to 087-2264372. In the event that there are too many interested we will select based on skillset to get a balanced group together.

DRUMCLIFFE/ROSSES POINT

SEVEN DRP footballers: Izzy Henry, Rianne Smith, Eabha Kilfeather, Maeve Casserly, Roisín Grennan, Caoimhe Connors & Katie McGuire were all part of the Sligo LGFA county girls U16 panel who took part in the ‘Virtual 5k run for Ríoghnán’ on Sunday.

The run is in honour of Ríoghnán Flanagan (son of Etna) who passed away in 2015 while waiting for a heart transplant. A 5k run has been held every year since. This year’s event had to be virtual. Instead of raising cash, every member of the girls U16 panel pledged to recruit two new organ donors.

Another nice touch was that all the other Connacht U16 county panels joined the Sligo girls on the virtual run.

Another of our U16 footballers, Saoirse O’Donovan, set herself a challenge for May 2020 of walking 10km everyday for Pieta House. She’s finished with with 319.17km last Sunday, raising over €500 for the charity.

Well done Saoirse.
