Harassment of neighbours needs to stop warns judge
DISTRICT Court Judge Kevin Kilrane has warned a 44-year-old man he will go to prison if he does not stop harassing his neighbours.
Fran Clancy of Yeats Heights, Ballytivnan was before Sligo District Court for a number of public order offences, including intoxication in a public place, threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour and failure to comply with the direction of a garda.
The court was told on October 5 th 2019 he was engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Yeats Heights and was intoxicated.
On November 11 th, 2019 at Yeats Heights, Clancy failed to comply with a direction of a garda and was engaging in offensive language shouting at passers-by.
On November 14 th he was intoxicated in a public place.
The court heard on June 7 th last Clancy was trespassing the curtilage of 4 Yeats Heights in such a manner that would be likely to cause fear.
A HSE worker told the court Clancy was cocooning during lockdown and was ‘finding it tough’.
Clancy lives by himself in accommodation provided by the HSE.
Solicitor Eddie Henry told the court his client has not drank since the incident earlier this month.
The court was told Clancy is into gaming and spends his money on TVs and equipment for same.
Judge Kevin Kilrane said he must pay fines in relation to the offences.
He fined him €100 for engaging in offensive conduct, €100 for failure to comply, €100 for trespassing, €100 for threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, and the other matters were taken into consideration. He was told to save up for the fines and continue to take his medication.
