Wanted release for daughter’s Communion

A 34-year-old man before Sligo District Court on a number of charges wanted to be released on time for his daughter’s Communion next May, Sligo District Court heard.

Martin O’Hara, Bakers Court Apartments, Ballyshann­on, Co Donegal was before the court on a number of charges, including no insurance, dangerous driving, entering a building as a trespasser and theft of a DVD player and €50 in loose change, possession of cannabis resin and possession of a filleting knife on various dates earlier this year in locations in Donegal. These included Laghy, Netowncunn­ingham, Bridgend and Rossnowlag­h.

Defending solicitor Mr Rory O’Brien told Judge Kevin Kilrane his client had asked if could be released for his daughter’s Communion next May. O’Hara was sentenced the defendant, who was in custody since April 18th, to a total of 18 months in prison, with nine months suspended.
