Man sent forward for trial

A 47-year-old man has been sent forward for trial to the July sitting of Sligo Circuit Court on a number of alleged assault charges.

Vita Luyindula of Apartment 6, Springvale, Tubbercurry was before Judge Kevin Kilrane in Sligo District Court on Thursday where the court heard the Book of Evidence has been served.

Luyindula is charged with assaulting Carine Tchaya Tcheuko on number of dates at the same address in November 2019.

He is further charged with assaulting Carine Tchaya Tcheuko causing her harm on Decemebr 19 th 2019.

The defendant, who was represented by Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor, will appear at the July 14 th sitting of Sligo Circuit Court.

Also at Thursday’s sitting of Sligo District Court, a 24-yearold man pleaded guilty to stealing an Under Armour jumper, valued at €39.95 from Elvery’s Johnston Court. Gregory McMorrow of Caltragh Crescent, Sligo was charged with the offence on May 28th 2019.

He had 6 previous convictions. Defending solicitor Ms Laura Spellman told Judge Kilrane her client had the money in court which the judge ordered be given to the shop.

He convicted and fined him €100.
