RETURNING TO SUNDAY MASS

Following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions from Monday, June 29, it will be possible for local parishioners to attend Sunday Mass in St Clare’s Church Manorhamilton for the first time since Sunday, March 15, on this Saturday, evening, July 4 but because of the social distancing guidelines attendance is staggered on a street area and townland basis.

Explaining the new staggered attendance plan because of the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, the St Clare’s parish council says ‘due to current Government restrictions on indoor gatherings it is necessary to restrict numbers attending Mass.

‘It is proposed that we offer Mass to the following areas on designated days. We ask for your understanding on this. We all hope that as soon as possible Mass can be opened to all at times of their choosing.

‘Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused – our priority is to get our church opened in as safe a way as possible. This is subject to change if Government guidelines change.

‘Every effort has been made to include all areas. If your area seems to have been left out, please attend the Mass relating as closely to your area as possible. Keep checking the parish website for updates at www. cloonclarekillasnett.ie.’.

FUN RUN/WALK

The Sharon Loughlin Memorial Fun Run/Walk, which has taken place in Newtownmanor parish for many years now, cannot take place this year on its normal summer date due to COVID-19 but the event will still go ahead in a somewhat different format over a four-week period.

The local organising Fun Run/ Walk Committee in a statement explaining what will happen for 2020 and giving advance notice of the event, say ‘given the continued restrictions, there will be no formal, communal, annual ‘Sharon’s Memorial Fun Run/ Walk’ this year.

‘However, for those who wish to continue the commemoration this year, individuals can choose a time/place of their own to pursue their 5K/8K Fun Run or Walk, between Sunday, July 5, and Sunday, August 3.

‘Those, who wish to donate to a good cause, in memory of Sharon Loughlin, can forward donations to specific named individuals. Details of those individuals and the charity to receive such donations will be published in the coming weeks.’.

The Sharon Loughlin Memorial Fun/Run Walk commemorates the memory of the popular and much-loved Sharon from Pullboy Newtownmanor.
