Sligo Business Awards back to 2021
THE difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Sligo Business Awards has been taken. The prestigious ceremony was due to take place in October but the current situation Covid-19 means the event has been moved to February 2021.
Lorraine McDonnell, General Manager of The Sligo Champion said: “We are sorry that we cannot hold our awards as planned this year but these are truly exceptional times for us all, as our working life and family life are transformed as a result of Covid-19. However, we do wish to fully celebrate the achievements of the business world in Sligo and the region and will hold our awards ceremony next February 2021.
“We thank Sligo LEADER Partnership our title sponsor and partner of these awards for their patience and continued support, as well as our category sponsors Callan Tansey Solicitors, AIB, Bank of Ireland, Joe Kelly Fresh Fruit, Abbvie, IT Sligo, David McConville Orthodontics, Davis’s Yeats Tavern, OSD, Brand Power, Burns Car Sales/Skoda, Stephen Mullen-Sligo Haulage and Sligo Caravan & Camping. Companies and individuals alike are being challenged like never before and I send my good wishes to all of you in dealing with these difficult times. We’ ll be looking at launching the awards this November and encouraging you and your firms to enter. And when the current situation has passed, and firms look to regroup and rebuild for the future, there is perhaps no better time to reflect on what made them great in the first place and to recognise the key role of innovative businesses in driving the recovery; we look forward to celebrating these successes in 2021. In uncertain times, it is essential that we continue to recognise the efforts and commitment of businesses in our region and The Sligo Business Awards have played a central role in this for many years and we look forward to continuing this legacy in 2021.
Acting CEO June Murphy, Sligo LEADER Partnership said: Sligo LEADER Partnership has been delighted to have partnered with The Sligo Champion to recognise the achievements of local businesses since 2013. “While we are very aware that all businesses are suffering right now due to the constraints of this pandemic, it has shown us the resilience, ingenuity, creativity and survival skills of many of our local businesses that are fighting hard to continue to deliver their services and products in ‘new’ ways. While the 2020 Awards may be postponed until early next year, due to the current government restrictions, we at Sligo
