Challenging time for all in our nursing homes
SINCE the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ireland, it has become apparent to everyone just how vital the role of our healthcare and frontline work ers are in responding to this threat and caring for older people in the community.
Director of Nursing of Sligo Nursing Home, Fiona Cawley, said:
“The past 16 week s have been a very challenging time for all in our nursing home. Our residents are truly amazing and continuously demonstrate considerable resilience and spirit, despite the necessary disruptions to their day-to-day lives. Our families and friends have also shown great patience and graciousness in recent months. They have provided valuable support and understanding to our team as we dedicated our efforts to ensure all our residents remained safe in our care by restricting visiting our home. I have been so immensely proud of my team’s compassion, dedication and commitment to providing high quality, safe, person-centred care so that our residents feel valued and loved in these unprecedented times.
The generosity shown by many businesses, voluntary groups, community organisations and individuals has also been warmly received by our residents and the team. This generosity and support really helps and has touched us all.”
“All of us at Mowlam Healthcare are deeply grateful to our frontline heroes in Sligo Nursing Home, who have work ed tirelessly over the past 16 week s. We appreciate all your hard work and sacrifices to k eep residents and your colleagues safe and well.” added
