Online festive programme with The Model

THE Model has announced an online programme to take place between Christmas and New Year with a special virtual edition of the popular Featherhea­ds & Dreamers, activities to keep the little ones busy over the holiday period, and the launch of a virtual Niland Collection exhibition.

Featherhea­d and Dreamers; Winter Embers curated by Patrick Karl Curley will premiere on The Model’s Facebook page on Wednesday, December 30 th at 8pm.

This celebratio­n of music, poetry, spoken word and visual art under the shadow of Benbulben features performanc­es by Julianna Holland, Steve Wickham, Alice Lyons, Ruth Clinton & Cormac McDiarmada, with visual art contributi­ons from Judith Cornwell, James Kelly, Anita McGarry and Dominic Corrigan.

Children’s drawings entered into The Models recent Landmarks of Sligo drawing competitio­n form part of a series of children’s activities, to be launched on 28th December, 2020, alongside the commission­ed drawings of Strandhill-based artist Shannon Re.

Children and their families will be able to download each drawings as a colouring activity. They can even download them all and create their very own ‘Sligo Landmarks’ Colouring Book.

Director of The Model Emer McGarry said “We are delighted to present this online programme free of charge over Christmas; and to provide an opportunit­y to connect artists and audiences with a very special winter edition of Feather-heads and Dreamers featuring Sligo based artists and performers.

“We are equally thrilled to be able to show our Jack B Yeats; A Thought of Sligo exhibition to those who didn’t get a chance to visit our galleries this year. And we were super impressed with the work of our youngest artists who helped us put together some activities for Children to enjoy over the holidays”
