Caught after knife robbery

TWO men were arrested shortly after entering a shop brandishing a knife in Sligo on Sunday night.

The two entered a filling station shop on the Bundoran Road, brandishing a knife, as staff were closing the premises at approximately 10pm.

The men fled the scene but they were subsequently stopped by Gardaí and arrested.

They were brought to Ballymote Garda Station for questioning and investigations are continuing. Charges are likely to be brought at a later date.
