The Sligo Champion

Second chance for Miss Ireland participants

-

THREE Sligo women will be hoping that luck will shine on them as they get a second bite of the cherry when they compete at the Miss Ireland competition. AINE Magee, Emma Doyle and Viktorjija Baklastova were runners up at the 2020 Miss Sligo selection, which was won by Orla Quinn.

As there was no Miss Ireland competition in 2020 due to Covid-19, Orla is through to the finals of this year’s competition as Miss Sligo, while those who finished as runners up at regional selections have been given a second chance, as they have been entered into the semi-finals and will compete in a virtual event that could see them through to the finals.

Aine Magee is from Collooney and works as a Junior Quanity Surveyor, Emma Doyle is from Tubbercurry and is hoping to study Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, and Viktorija Baklastova from Sligo town studies International Business and French.

The ‘Miss Ireland semi-final’ sees all the runner up placements from the 2020 selections which where able to take place within guidelines now take part in a virtual TV format selection.

A top panel of judges will interview all 20 finalists and select 8 lucky Girls who will move forward to Miss Ireland 2021. In addition to the judging panel for the first time ever one additional semi-finalist will secure a place as the People’s Choice Award which is a public vote currently taking place on the new Miss Ireland APP.

Brendan Marc Scully Miss Ireland owner & Creative Director says

“Sadly, due to the pandemic like all events 2020 had NO Miss Ireland final selection but we are positive that the latter half of this year will see us in a position to hold a safe selection for Miss Ireland which will see one overall winner become Miss Ireland 20/21 and move forward to Miss World.”

“We are delighted to be able to produce a safe virtual event for our 2020 County runner ups and they will get their chance to compete for a place as a MI Finalists, we have also launched a new Miss Ireland APP which is available for FREE to download and People can vote for their favourite contestant from anywhere in the world”

The Miss Ireland Semi Final will take place at the first week in March and will be available online, for more details download the Miss Ireland APP or follow @missirelandorg on social media platforms.
