ST FARNAN’S LADIES

ALL of us involved in the club and beyond would like to congratulate our own Jacqui Mulligan on recently being chosen as one of the participants in LGFA’s second “Learn to Lead” Female Leadership Programme.

This programme has been set up to support and develop the next generation of female leaders within the sport.

Jacqui, who will be one of just twenty four participants selected nationwide, will be operating within the field of officiating.

Now in the twilight of a long playing career, it is heartening to see someone of such calibre showing an interest in continuing her links with the sport into the future.

We wish her well.

The “Last Man Standing” fundraiser is now in full swing but it’s been very much a mix of some good and some bad news to date. The good news is that 330 names made it into the hat before the deadline thereby raising much needed revenue for the club’s coffers but unfortunately it’s bad news for many of those participants with over half of them eliminated after the first weekend.

For those who remain it’s a case of fingers crossed as we head into the second weekend of fixtures.

A huge thank you to all who have supported the venture.

The club is also seeking the help of all supporters and the wider public to help it in raising substantial funds through the Lidl initiative “Level the Playing Field”.

The retail group are major supporters of the LGFA and this latest initiative is aimed at helping clubs all over the country. Participants nominated club will receive stamps based on the amount they spend in any of the groups branches.

All you need to do to get started is get set up on the Lidl Plus App and watch your club reap the rewards.

All you have to do is download the Lidl app on your phone and every time you spend €30 and scan your app; Geevagh Girls team will get a token.

It requires 300 tokens to get a set of jerseys.

Our girls would really appreciate your support.

Our U.14s provided a season of top quality entertainment in 2020, why not show your appreciation by helping them get a new kit.

After being granted funding from the Sports Capital Fund, Gaobhach CLG & Geevagh Community Resource Group will be meeting shortly to progress the installation of ball stop nets at Pairc Ailbhe, this work will be completed in the next few months. The pitch Floodlights in the Sports Field will be switched on every Monday, Wednesday & Friday night from 6.30pm to 8pm for those who wish to avail of the facility while still adhering to Covid-19 regulations. Anyone using the facilities are requested to run/walk in the direction of the new erected signage.

Sympathy is extended the the family, relatives & friends of the late Margaret Ann Waters, Carrownaclaune.
