Markus is Westlife’s new Creative Director

-

WESTLIFE’S Markus Feehily has been keeping busy during lockdown and has completed a graphic design course with the 40-year-old now the band’s Creative Director.

The singer also previously worked on the artwork for the band’s 2019 album, Spectrum.

He said that it was such a thrilling thing doing the college course.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “During lockdown I did a course in graphic design, which has been amazing. It’s such a thrilling thing doing this college course. I’ve just been able to enjoy myself doing this.

“I have always been involved in Westlife’s artwork.

“It’s something that happens over the years.

“For instance, I designed the ‘Spectrum’ album artwork. I fully designed that.

“Album by album I got more involved and eventually I fell into the category of creative director for the album artwork. “It just happens that I also like doing that.”

Markus revealed that he is working on the band’s upcoming calendar and designed it “at home in my office by myself ”.

“Sometimes you’ ll find a graphic designer that you work really well with and they understand your idea and put it into action, but then other times it can be like pulling teeth because they don’t get your idea and it comes back completely different,” he said.

“I thought if I actually just learnt that skill then I can take that layer out of the whole situation and do it myself.

“So I’ve done the course and I’ve designed the Westlife calendar at home in my office by myself.”

Markus and his fellow Westlife bandmates, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne announced a new record deal on St Patrick’s Day.

The band, who have sold over 55 million records worldwide, have signed a new record deal with Warner Music.

They also revealed that they are planning to play at the Wembley Arena in August as the UK opens up after covid.

The band took to Twitter on St Patrick’s Day to tell their fans that they have signed with East West Records, which is owned and distributed by Warner Music.

“We have found a record label that share the same energy and high ambitions as the four of us, in what will be a very busy year, where there will be some surprise announcements and of course new music!”.

The year ahead is set to include TV specials, a new album, and plans for a US debut which includes their first ever show in New York. Very much a busy year for the band who have 14 No.1 singles so far.
