ONES TO WATCH

50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, Mondays, Sky 1, 9 pm

I have been so looking forward to this show starting, just because it sounds so mad! You may remember Baz Ashmawy from shows such as "How low can you go" on RTE, now he's moved to Sky with a crazy concept he came up with himself where he drags his poor 71 year old mother Nancy along on some of his most harebrained schemes including swimming with sharks, wrestling crocodiles and skydiving. Nancy appears to love every minute of it but the secret to the show is watching the bond between her and her son as they set off on this crazy adventure. Who Do You Think You Are? Thursday, August 28, BBC1, 9 pm

I always knew that Brendan O'Carroll was a bit of a blackguard and now we know for sure! Brendan traces his roots and looks into one of the big mysteries of his family past, the murder of his grandfather in 1920. Apparently Peter O'Carroll was shot in his shop on Manor Street in 1920 at a time when the battle for Irish independence was intensifying. Through newspaper reports, Brendan finds that there was a note beside his grandfather's body saying, "this man is a traitor to Ireland - shot by the IRA." What Brendan finds out is shocking and brings home the humanity of what his family went through at the time. Sarah Beeny’s Double Your House for Half The Money, Wednesday Channel 4, 9 pm.

I'd watch any programme with Sarah Beeny in it! She's down to earth, practical and very personable. This series looks at not trading up but in making the most of what you have. In Sheffield, Sarah meets Russ and Jen Hunt who are desperate to have a larger family but unfortunately their new build is already bursting at the seams with just one child. Can Sarah help them? In the village in Radlett, Sarah also meets Adam and Laura Margolis and their two children . The family bought a bungalow after Adam who has MS, found climbing the stairs impossible. Can Sarah help them adapt the property to make it suitable for Adam as well as being a super stylish home? Of course she can, she's Sarah Beeny!
