TRACTOR RUN

The Glynn Tractor Run is on July 3, leaving the village at 1 p.m. Registrati­on from midday-1 p.m. Cost €20 to enter the run. See you there.

CAMOGIE

Congratula­tions to club camogie girls Laura Dempsey who won Student of the Year in the Presentati­on School and Niamh Buckley who was announced Head girl of Loreto Secondary School for the academic year of 2016/17.

COISTE NA NÓG

Well done to our under-six and under-eight hurlers who hosted Rathnure in friendly games on Saturday morning. Our under-10 hurlers showed great skills in a friendly game v neighbours Crossabeg-Ballymurn on Sunday morning.

Our under-12 Boys Blue Team played a cracking challenge hurling match against our neighbours Ballyhogue at noon today, they are now ready for their first Championsh­ip game against Naomh Eanna on Tuesday evening at home – roll on the GAA season and keep up the work rate. Hard luck to our under-14 hurlers who were beaten by Blackwater during the week.

Well done to Tom Butler who represente­d Glynn-Barntown in the under-14 Féile Hurling Skills competitio­n in the Ferns Centre of Excellence this week.

CUL CAMPS

Glynn-Barntown Club is top of the leader board for Cúl Camp bookings – book before June 1 to get the Cúl Camp gear before camp begins – the club with the most bookings will receive a prize.

SENIOR GAA

Our Senior Footballer­s were in action in Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday afternoon in a vital championsh­ip clash with Horeswood. It was a tight affair at half time with Glynn-Barntown just having the edge on the scoreboard but the boys geared up particular­ly in the final quarter of the game and their strong finish saw them run out worthy winners 1-15 to 0-09. Our Junior footballer­s played Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n in Taghmon in championsh­ip on Sunday afternoon but suffered defeat there.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Our under-10 Green ladies’ football team played away to St Martin’s this week. Everyone played well and enjoyed the game but despite our best efforts St Martin’s came out on top.

Well done to our Junior Ladies’ footballer­s who had a great win over St Anne’s in Rathangan on Sunday evening in the league. Final score 5-8 to 4-7.

Well done to Alibeth Moran Curran and Cora Rowe who were part of the under-14 Wexford Ladies’ Football team which played at the weekend.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Glynn-Barntown GAA, camogie and Ladies’ Football Clubs and the extended community, would like to congratula­te Glynn Parish Priest Fr Stafford on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee.

This will be marked with a Thanksgivi­ng mass celebrated by Bishop Denis Brennan in St Lawrence’s Church Glynn on Wednesday, June 1, at 8 p.m. and followed by refreshmen­ts in Glynn hall immediatel­y afterwards. As a mark of respect for this special occasion there will be no activities in the GAA pitch from 7.30 p.m. onwards. become a fine handballer if she keeps at it. Well done Madison.

At adult level the league format is coming to a close and the knock out phase will start when all qualifiers are known. Ciarán Busher is well placed to progress in Junior D, with Kevin Shannon likely to lose out, while Eamonn Codd and Brian Busher are going well in both Junior C Singles and Doubles. Micheál Busher has still some work to do to qualify in Junior Singles, as has Máire Busher in Women’s Junior C singles.

KILMORE ATHLETICS CLUB

On Thursday at 7.30 p.m. there will be a 2mile in the village-starting outside the school. It is free for anyone who would like to put themselves against the clock. All you have to do is turn up on the line.

KILMORE ARA

We are arranging a day trip to Waterford on Wednesday, June 22, where we plan to visit the Bishops Palace, Medieval Museum and Reginald’s Tower with dinner in the evening. We need names at our meeting on June 2 for this trip. Our trip to Irish Agricultur­al Museum and Johnstown Castle Gardens is arranged for June 8 at 10.30 a.m.

A Bowls competitio­n is now being held on our practice night for those interested. Practice is on Tuesdays in the pm at 7:00. Monthly meeting on June 2 in Kilmore GAA at 7.30 p.m. TenPin Bowling for ARA members on Mondays at 10.30 a.m. in Leisuremax.

SCOUTS

A couple of big weekends are coming up for scouts. There’s monster fundraisin­g on June 18/19 in aid of forthcomin­g trip to Internatio­nal scout jamboree in Birmingham.

There will be tea on the lawn and a cake sale on Saturday 18th after mass with tea on the lawn; then there is a cake sale and car boot sale on Sunday 19th.

There is also a cake sale on Saturday 18th after mass in Tomhaggard and Mulrankin on Sunday 19th. More details closer to event.

On following weekend June 24 to June 26 Kilmore scouts are hosting Wamboree Wexford which is a county camp for beavers, cubs, scouts, ventures, rovers and scouters. There’s a full programme of activities with all funds raised going to the Syrian Refugee Crisis in associatio­n with Trocaire. Thanks to generous local sponsorshi­p the majority of camp fees will go to the charity. It’s the brainchild of two youth members Josh and Haley Power. We’re hoping it will be well supported by Scout groups from around the county as it’s such a worthwhile cause.

TOMHAGGARD CENTRE

Women’s Shed Reading Room is open to public Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. if you want to borrow, swap or read books. New members welcome so if you want to meet up, learn new skills, or just chill out over a cuppa why not check it out.

WoMen’s Shed have started planting and creating new flower beds at Centre with grass area at back also sowed so there’ll be a nice social space for the community to enjoy shortly.

KILMORE QUAY ICA

ICA members are meeting for the last time before the summer on Wednesday, June 1, at 8 p.m. in the Stella Maris Centre. Weather permitting we will be having a picnic at the ICA seat overlookin­g the beautiful harbour of Kilmore Quay.

A commemorat­ive afternoon tea and craft sale will be held in the Stella Maris centre on July 3 at 3 p.m. This is being held in memory of the late ICA member Ann Winders. All proceeds of this event will be donated to St Joseph’s and St Mary’s School for the Deaf.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Miss Orla Boxwell, Sarshill, Kilmore who got married recently to Ian McDonald, New Brunswick Toronto. Orla is daughter of Liz and frank. We wish this couple many happy years of married life together.

21ST WISHES

congratula­tions to Amy Devlin McGarry who celebrated her 21st birthday last week. Amy is daughter of Connie and Brendan.

DEATH

The death of Johnny Doyle from Kildare took place recently. Johnny was a frequent visiter to Sarshill where he had a mobile home.

Sympathy to all his family on their great loss. will be St Joseph’s probably in July.

Next weekend we play Clongeen on Saturday in Clongeen at 6 p.m. in hurling in the first round of the Fox Cup.

Our club lotto takes place this Tuesday night, May 31, in the centre, when the jackpot will be €2,600. Please have your tickets in at 8 p.m.

TAGHMON NS

Congratula­tions to all the children who took part in the Bree school sports recently. A special congratula­tions to Chloe O’Toole, who scooped a gold medal in the under-12 girls 100m. Also, congratula­tions to the winning under-12 girls relay team, Chloe O’Toole, Chloe Doyle, Hazel and Andrea O’Keeffe who were also successful on the day, and brought another gold to Taghmon School. An enjoyable day was had by all.

News from the County finals: in discus Muireann Hore won silver in the under-15 Discus. Pádraig Hore threw 39.80 and took gold. Very well done to you both.

Very well done to Aisling Kelly who won the under-14 Leinster combined events in Enniscorth­y, and also to Chloe O’Toole who competed in her first Leinster combined events. Great going girls.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratula­tions to Libby O’Brien would was second in the solo singing county final under-16 in Bree last Friday in a very talented competitio­n. This is a great result for someone so young.

Well done to Ellie Murphy who competed well in the gymnastics county finals in Gorey on Sunday. Well done girls.

Good luck to our girls badminton team in the next round of their competitio­n against the Carlow champions.

Don’t forget athletics county finals at the new track in Enniscorth­y on Sunday, June 12, starting at 10 a.m. with a parade.
