PIERCE Turner will be rushing back to New York for a high-profile performance immediately after his eagerly awaited performance in Wexford’s St. Iberius Church this month.

The award winning author Joseph O’Connor, who once picked a Turner track as one of his Desert Island disc choices, has asked the Wexford/Manhattan Man (Ireland’s former Solo Performer of the year) to take part in the Angela’s Ashes 20th start-studded Anniversary Concert in Manhattan on June 26.

The concert, co-organised by Frank McCourt’s widow Ellen McCourt, is still in the process of preparation with numerous other VIP guests receiving invitations, among them Gabriel Byrne, who has confirmed.

Turner is currently at home in Ireland to promote his latest album ‘Love Can’t Always Be Articulate’, recorded in a Manhattan Church.

This month, he gives two special premier performances of the album - in Dublin and his hometown of Wexford - with an ensemble including the Church organist Josh Johnston.

The new CD, described as ‘grand and refreshing Irish contemporary music..stunning and epic’ by Indie Rock Café NYC, will be launched on June 10. It’s already available through ITunes and is rapidly building a strong word of mouth within the corridors of the music insiders.

Turner, who had planned on staying in Ireland for a couple of weeks after the performances, now has to rush back to Manhattan - where he also lives - to perform at the ‘Angela’s Ashes’ Anniversary Concert, so these two concerts are the only chance for an Irish performance by Pierce Turner in the near future.

Pierce’s Ensemble for his Irish performances includes Josh Johnston on organ/piano, Garvan Gallagher, bass/vocals, Michael Egan, guitar, and Aileen Mythen, vocals/percussion.
