1 ATHENAEUM GIGS: Enniscorthy’s recently refurbished Athenaeum will spring to life this June when two big name artists come to the historic venue for the first time in many years. On Friday June 10, The Celtic Tenors will give audiences a night to remember with their renditions of beautiful Celtic songs and exhilarating classics. Whether they are playing at an iconic neighbourhood venue such as the Athenaeum or major concert halls in international cities like New York or Shanghai, The Celtic Tenors never disappoint the crowds. The following night on Saturday June 11, national treasure Jack L will captivate the crowd with his award-winning vocals and much-loved songs, both old and new. The events are sure to serve as the perfect way to celebrate the rebirth of the iconic Athenaeum theatre in Enniscorthy. Tickets for both events cost €25 each per person and are available from lantern.ie, Byrne’s Bookshop in Enniscorthy or through the official Enniscorthy Athenaeum website. Both of the gigs will kick off at 8 p.m.

WEXFORD audiences will be for something of a rare treat at 8 p.m. on Saturday (June 11) when Anúna performs at the National Opera House. Michael McGlynn founded Anúna in 1987 in an effort to create a physical voice for his compositions, many of which are strongly influenced by the history and mythology of Ireland.

His musical education and his experiences as a classical singer inspired him to develop a new musical vocabulary for his choir both as a composer and a choral director.

The name Anúna is derived from the Gaelic term An Uaithne, a collective description for the three ancient forms of Irish music - Goltraí (song of lament), Geantraí (song of joy) and Suantraí (the lullaby). Bookings for what promises to be a magical night can be made at the Box Office: +353 53 912 2144
