Feast of Wexford hits the Quay

THE BEST Wexford food and the best local chefs will be cooking up some great dishes as the Feast of Wexford which is taking place on the Quays as part of the Wexford Maritime Festival.

Organised by The Wexford Food Family, the not for profit organisati­on dedicated to growing and promoting the food industry in County Wexford, the feast will be a unique event taking place in a pop up restaurant.

A wonderfull­y creative and delicious gala dinner - The Feast of Wexford Banquet - developed by the talented Wexford chef Phelim Byrne will get the foodie events off to a cracking start on Friday night. During the weekend, 24 Wexford producers will be on the quay to meet people, to talk their passion for what they do and how they produce their fabulous foods. And there will be ample opportunit­ies to try before you buy. Entry to the Feast of Wexford Market is free. There will also be a Wexford Craft beer garden with three lovely local brewers’ beers to sample.

So far 13 brilliant Wexford chefs have confirmed they will be on hand to give free cookery demonstrat­ions in our Feast of Wexford 11 a.m. - Gopal Kawander, Silver Fox, Kilmore 12 p.m. - Anoop Kattupadat­h, Spice, Wexford 1 p.m. - Nicky Cullen, Mary Barry’s, Kilmore 2 p.m. - Eugene Callaghan, Kelly’s Resort Hotel 3 p.m. - Stephane Rochard, Kelly’s Café 4 p.m. - Nigel Corbett, Talbot Hotel 5 p.m. - Declan Dempsey, Pettitts At 7 p.m. on Saturday, The Float our Lifeboat Big Barbecue Bash will feature a brilliant barbecue cooked up by chef Philip Gore of the Riverbank House Hotel using Wexford foods.
