Anne’s joint top in U-14 football

SHELMALIERS MOVED up to the summit of the New Ross Standard Under-14 football Division 1B championship table with a classy win over previously undefeated Glynn-Barntown in Hollymount last week (see above).

The two Wexford District sides now sit level at the top with St. Anne’s, who had a cracking 4-11 to 4-3 win over Rathgarogue-Cushinstown on the same evening.

HWH-Bunclody picked up a strong victory in Division 2 against Castletown last week. It was their second success in three games and came on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-8.

Crossabeg-Ballymurn narrowly lost their opening tie back April but they are unbeaten since then, and they kept up that run with an 8-14 to 2-2 success against Buffers Alley.

Our Lady’s Island/St. Fintan’s continued to set the pace in Division 3 after another fantastic performance saw them beat Monageer-Boolavogue by 6-10 to 2-8 to stay perfect after four games. Ferns St. Aidan’s are level with them, having played a game more, and they beat St. Mary’s (Maudlintown) by 2-10 to 2-7 to keep pace.

Craanford won their local derby against Kilrush by 1-6 to 1-4 to move third in the table with three wins from their four games. Elsewhere, Fethard produced their best showing of the season to date to defeat Duffry Rovers by 6-19 to 4-0 to jump off the bottom of the table.

Ballyhogue are on fire in Division 4. The Bree boys, who have scored 30 goals in their four games to date, beat Davidstown-Courtnacuddy by 10-17 to 5-4 to stay top of the table.

Joining them at the summit are Bannow-Ballymitty who beat St. Mary’s (Rosslare) by 3-11 to 4-2. Adamstown are third after a 17-14 to 1-2 success against Geraldine O’Hanrahans.

Finally, in Division 5 13-a-side, St. Patrick’s moved up top on their own following a 3-11 to nil success against Marshalstown-Castledockrell on Thursday.
