Ryan Kehoe (Bronze) under-16 seven km marathon. All their hard work paid off yesterday. Best of luck to Léa, Chloe and Emma in Athlone at the National Finals.
CAR BOOT SALE
Local ladies Mary Dempsey and Bernie Broaders are holding a car boot sale in aid of Barntown Church. Donations of Bric-a-brac and clothes (in good condition) will be accepted at the parish office after 7 p.m. Mass on Saturday, July 09, and after both Masses – 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 10. Watch this space for further details of the event.
Gymstars Gymnastic Club, Knockeen, Barntown will be running two summer camps. The camps will consist of Trampet work, Floor work, Vault, Beam, Air Track and much more. It will be specially designed to suit all the different abilities from the beginner to the advanced. First Camp starts Monday, July 11, second Camp starts Tuesday, August 2. Both camps run for four Days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Joanne at 087 9475 977. Beginners welcome.
CAMOGIE
Our Senior camogie team were unfortunately defeated by Oulart-the-Ballagh in championship on Monday evening in Killurin. The girls will rally now for their final group game against St Martin’s on July 11.
Hard luck to our Junior B camogie team who lost their League final on Tuesday evening to Marshalstown 3-10 to 2-6. The girls trailed 2-6 to 0-3 at half time thanks to two pointed frees from Cora Doyle and a point from Debbie Fitzharris but really attacked the second half and with two goals from placed balls from the on target Cora (1 penalty, one 21 yd free) and a further three points also from Cora the gap was closed significantly. The opposition upped it a gear however and pulled away to take the victory.
Commiserations also to our under-16 camogie team who were beaten by St Martin’s in Killurin on Wednesday evening but battled to the final whistle.
Well done to the U.8 camogie girls who played St Mary’s Rosslare on Saturday morning in Tagoat fielding two teams who both played brilliantly.
Hard luck to the Glynn-Barntown contingent of Emma Sweeney, Cora Doyle and Aisling Halligan and selector Ger Sweeney and the Wexford under-16 camogie team who travelled to Dublin on Sunday to take on Galway in first round of the All-Ireland series but were unfortunately overcome 6-13 to 3-12.
Well done also to Emma Walsh and Aoife Sheil and the Wexford Senior camogie team who defeated Waterford in the All-Ireland championship on Saturday in Walsh Park 3-12 to 1-11.
Hard luck to Clodagh Jackman, Patrice O’Gorman and Emma Kiely and the Wexford Intermediate camogie team who travelled to Antrim to take their camogie team on also on Saturday in the All-Ireland championship but were beaten 4-16 to 2-11.
COISTE NA NÓG
Well done to our under-16 footballers who resumed their championship with a good win over St Martin’s on Monday evening in Killurin 3-4 to 1-7.
Both our under-12 teams defeated two Buffers Alley teams at home on Tuesday evening.
Our under-10s played host to three teams from St Vincent’s who travelled down on Saturday for friendly hurling and football matches where the high standards were enjoyed by the spectators. Thanks to our visitors, to all the mentors for their continued hard work and to the parents who provided refreshments on the day.
Our under-14 hurlers had a comfortable win over Monageer on Thursday evening.
Hard luck to Ger Dempsey and the Wexford Minor hurlers who lost their Leinster Final on Sunday in Croke Park to Dublin.
SENIOR GAA
Both our Senior and Junior footballers had league wins over the weekend – the Seniors defeated Starlights on Friday by a point while the Juniors claimed victory over Rathgarogue-Cushinstown on Saturday evening.
Well done to Gary Moore and the Wexford Intermediate hurlers who booked a Leinster Final place with a win over Galway this week.
Well done also to Mark Fanning back between the posts, Gary Moore and the Wexford Senior hurlers who defeated Offaly in Innovate Wexford Park in the All-Ireland championship qualifiers 1-21 to 1-13 on Saturday last.
GAA CLUB LOTTO
Club lotto Winning numbers Wednesday, June 29, were 6, 10, 13 and 18. No jackpot winner. Seven match-three winners – Janet Fitzharris, Lisa Maher, David Ferriter, Seán Carmody, Ger Walsh and Glynn-Barntown camogie club. The jackpot remains at €10,000. Reserve jackpot is €8,200. The next draw is in Mary Jo’s on Wednesday, July 13.

Hard luck to our Minor ladies’ footballers who lost out on a semi-final spot when they were defeated by St Fintan’s on Sunday evening in Killurin.
