HISTORICAL SOCIETY TOUR

A Bannow Historical Society tour will take place on Saturday, July 16. The coach will leave from Ballymitty school car park at 9.30 a.m. We will visit Mount Congreve Gardens, Portlaw Heritage Centre and Curraghmor­e House and gardens. SEISIUN

Danescastl­e Music Group will host Seisiún, an evening of traditiona­l music, song and dance every Tuesday night in Loftus Hall commencing at 8.30 p.m. Show starts this Tuesday, July 5, and will run every Tuesday during July and August. GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto draw winning numbers 16, 21, 28 and 31. No jackpot and no match-three winners. Next draw will take place in the Complex on Tuesday, July 12. Tickets can be purchased in the Post Office Carrig, Seabreeze Laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg Wellington Bridge or any Club Officer down in the Complex.

We have our County men back to the club after last week’s Football defeat over Fermanagh. Unfortunat­ely that’s their year over and done with, well done Ben, Philly and Kiernan for your contributi­on to the County Squad.

The Féile Boys done themselves, their Families and their Club very proud last weekend down in Kerry. They arrived in their host towns on Friday afternoon and played Mount Leinster Rangers in the first match 5-8 to no score, not a bad start. Next up was Skellig/Valentia with a score line B/B 3-09 and 1-1 S/V. On Day two they played the host Club St, Michaels Foilmore with another win for the club 4-8 to 3-5. This brought them to the quarter final game against Reenard a Kerry team. Unfortunat­ely this was the last game, final score 2-2 Reenard 3-4. Four great performanc­es with three good wins. We had no winner in the last Model County draw. Once again thank you to everyone who supports the draw. All fixtures and venues are on the Facebook page and Twitter account.

We wish to extend deepest condolence­s to Mossie Doyle and the Mernagh/Doyle Families on the sad passing of Eithne. Many a good session and few pints were had after a match.

SOCCER NEWS

Corach Ramblers AGM will take place in Carrig Community Hall on Friday, July 8, at 8 p.m. All players, mentors and parents are welcome. Anyone who would like to put a motion forward for the coming season is asked to text Club Secretary Clodagh at 087 9314692 by Wednesday, July 6.

This week’s split-the-pot took place in Breen’s Of the Dirr. The winner was Danielle Byrne, Boley, Ballyculla­ne. She won €738. Well done Danielle. Ticket was drawn by Harry Lacey in Breen’s of the Dirr.

SAD PASSING

The people of Bannow parish were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of local publican Eithne Mernagh Doyle last Wednesday. Eithne was 55 years of age and is survived by her husband Mossy brothers Billy and Eamonn relatives and friends.

Her remains were taken from Ryan’s funeral parlour on Friday evening to Carrig church for prayers and funeral mass was at midday in Carrig church on Saturday morning with burial afterwards in St David’s cemetery Oylegate. May she rest in peace.

Please note the change of bus times to Wexford from Carrig-on-Bannow and Grantstown. On Wednesdays from July 6 the bus will leave Grantstown at 10 a.m., then Carrig-on-Bannow at 10.05 a.m. and arrive in Wexford at 10.35/10.45 a.m., departing Wexford at 2.30 p.m. On Saturdays from July 2 the bus departs Grantstown at 12.45 p.m., then Carrig-on-Bannow at 12.55 p.m., departing Wexford at 5 p.m. There is no booking required from the village, contact 053 9196276 for further informatio­n.

SHOW DATE

The Bannow/Rathangan Show takes place on Thursday, July 14, at Killag, Duncormick with all the usual attraction­s and some new ones this year. MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Tullicanna Music Festival takes place on Sunday, July 17, a Stafford’s of Tullicanna, performing on the day will be Mojo, Hot Ashpphalt, Cian McGovern, Jimmy Clooney and Friends. Music starts at 5 p.m., and there will be a barbecue and Colcannon, all proceeds from the day are going to Windmill Therapeuti­c Centre Wexford and Wexford Able/Disabled Club Clonard. at 053 9185800 or email mathilda.kirwan@itcarlow.ie.

BALLYCOGLE­Y PLAYERS

Our AGM took place on Thursday 30th June in Tomhaggard Social Centre and the following committee were elected for the coming year: Chairman Paddy McGuire, Secretary Brenda Murphy, Treasurer Terence O’Byrne and PRO Trisha Boyce.

The Ballycogle­y Players would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family of the late Doris Kelly, Killinick who passed away recently. Doris was an avid supporter of our group and we will miss her presence at our future production­s. May she rest in peace. for Syrian Refugees organised by Kilmore Scouts Josh and Hayley and over 2000 was raised, with over 200 youth and leaders attending. so well done to everyone for a great weekend.

Piercestow­n Group will hold their registrati­on night for next scouting year on Tuesday, August 30, at 7.30 p.m. All current members and any new entrants should come along this night to register. annual registrati­on fee to Scouting Ireland Dublin is €45 per member.

The group have very few leaders in the Beaver and Scout and Venturer Sections and would encourage and invite any parent or friend to contact Group Leader Jane Power with a view to discuss joining the group for the coming year.

Many activities may be curtailed due to lack of leaders at events if we don’t get more adults in to join as leaders to ensure the Child Protection rules are adhered to within the group. Contact Jane Power at 086 3265406.
