TENNIS AT ST MARTIN’S

Adult tennis fun nights for beginners will be held on Wednesdays from 7.00 p.m. to 9 p.m. over the summer months. All welcome, fee €2 for non-members, rackets and balls provided. Come along and give it a go.

Also Parks Junior Tennis will be on during July from 9.30 a.m. each weekday morning. Weekly rates available

OPEN GARDEN

Please come to the Open Garden at Jim and Alice Mernagh’s house, Moorfields. Sunday, July 17, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to help raise funds for ‘Dogs for Disabled.’ Bring your friends for teas, coffees plant sale and raffle. Charity No 17821.

ARA CLUB TRIP

Spanish Trip: there will be a meeting on July 19 at 7.30 p.m. in St Martin’s Community Centre for everyone travelling on this trip on October 5 to Pineda de Mar. Final Balance, Single Room Supplement and Booked Seats amount will need to be paid on this night. If anyone wishes to travel on any other extra trips they will also need to be booked in advance and paid in advance, this can be organised at this meeting (minimum of 10 people for any extra trips). The Day trip to Barcelona is included in the fare so advance booking/payment does not apply to this trip. If you have any questions, please call Ann at 087 6677411.

ARA CLUB BARBECUE

Piercestow­n Active Retirement Club closed their yearly activities on Tuesday, June 28, with a lovely barbecue at the Scout and Guide Hall, with Jack, jim and Shane ‘cooking up a storm’. Thank you to the Scout Group Leaders who host this event every year for the ARA Club members, over 30 members attended.

The ARA Club is closed now till September 6. Meeting times 2.30 – 4.30 and we would love to see more people over 55 joining our club and enjoying the many activities which are held throughout the year.

SCOUTS NEWS

All age groups have closed for the summer break. The Scout Group enjoyed many activities during the year, cubs going to Jamoige National Camp in Limerick in early June and they attended with the Venturers at the ‘Wamboree’ event in Kilmore last weekend. this was a fundraiser
