Piercestow­n-Murrintown Community Games will hold their annual Church Gate Collection after Mass in Piercestow­n and Murrintown on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10. We would appreciate your support.

ARA CLUB NEWS

Spanish Trip: there will be a meeting on July 19 at 7.30 p.m. in St Martin’s Community Centre for everyone travelling on this trip on October 5 to Pineda de Mar. Final Balance, Single Room Supplement and Booked Seats amount will need to be paid on this night. If anyone wishes to travel on any other extra trips they will also need to be booked in advance and paid in advance, this can be organised at this meeting (minimum of 10 people for any extra trips). The Day trip to Barcelona is included in the fare so advance booking/payment does not apply to this trip. If you have any questions, please call Ann at 087 6677411.

ARA club barbecue: Piercestow­n Active Retirement Club closed their yearly activities on Tuesday, June 28, with a lovely barbecue at the Scout and Guide Hall, with Jack, jim and Shane ‘cooking up a storm’. Thank you to the Scout Group Leaders who host this event every year for the ARA Club members, over 30 members attended.

The ARA Club is closed now till September 6. Meeting times 2.30 – 4.30 and we would love to see more people over 55 joining our club and enjoying the many activities which are held throughout the year. Kilrane on the death of Barbara (Babs) who passed away on Sunday, May 29. Barbara (née Murphy) was a native of Adamstown and went to England as a young woman to study Nursing. It was there she met her future husband Peter. They returned to Ireland in the early seventies and settled in Kilrane. She is sadly missed by her husband, daughters Shirley and Ruby, sons Tony, David and Kevin, sisters Mary and Eileen, grandchild­ren, relatives and friends. Barbara was laid to rest in St Aidan’s Cemetary after Funeral Mass in St Ruan’s Church, Kilrane.

Sympathy to Liz Gleeson and family, St Brendan’s Estate, who lost her beloved sister Catherine (Cath) Gorman, Ballacolla, Co Laois on Friday, June 10, after a very short illness. Sympathy is also extended to Ciaran Newport and family Boher, Kilrane, on the sad passing of his mother Phil which occurred on Tuesday, June 21. Phil (née Cullen) who had been in failing health for some time, lived at Cousinstow­n, Broadway. Condolence­s to Kathleen Doyle and family Kilrane, on the death of her sister Noeleen Flynn, who died in Liverpool on June 7. Also we sympathise with Eoin O’Dhonnagain, Principal, Kilrane National School, whose mother Eilis passed away on June 21 in Dublin. May they all Rest in Peace.

KRH COMMUNITY WEEKEND

On Saturday, July 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a Fun Children’s Talent Show in Hotel Rosslare. There will be no judges, just Certificat­es of Participat­ion and a small prize for every child who enters. Sing, Dance, Recite Poetry, Do Magic tricks, Do an Impression, Gymnastics, play an instrument – whatever your talent is we want to see and hear you. Entry €3 per child, Adults free.

An absolute must do event this year at the Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Weekend is the Rock and Roll/Rockabilly Exhibition Night in Hotel Rosslare on Friday, July 22, at 9 p.m. The South East Rock and Roll Club will be there to perform an exhibition of dance and costume like you have never seen before. Dancing open to all to join in after the exhibition and music will be provided by the excellent the Backbeats. Dress up in Rockabilly style if you wish, its up to yourself so come on down to join in the jive for a fun filled night of music and craic. Admission €5. All proceeds to Community Fund for next year’s programme.

We will be running the KRH ‘Get Your Bake On’ Competitio­n which will be sponsored by Murphys SuperValu Rosslare Harbour. There will be seven Sections in the Competitio­n as follows Best Cupcake, Best scone, Best Brown Bread, Best Apple/Rhubarb Tart Best Victoria Sponge, Best Afternoon Tea Item and Best Sugar Paste Decorated Cake. There will also be a section for Best Jams and Preserves. The Competitio­n will be judged by top ICA judges and will be rewarded with valuable prizes, sponsored by SuperValu. There is a cost of €2 per entry and you must produce a receipt for ingredient­s that have been purchased in SuperValu. There is an adult and junior Section in all Categories. All entries will be displayed and judged on Sunday, July 24, in Railway Social club, Rosslare Harbour. Entries to be delivered to Club by 12 moom on the day.

Mr Damien Beatty will hold and exhibition/class of Tai Chi in the Memorial Park Rosslare Harbour. This will be followed by and Exhibition/Class of Kettlebell Fitness by Clara O’Connor of Wexford Swing and Spin which is based in Kilrane – Tai Chi Saturday, July 23, in Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Kettlebell­s Saturday, July 23, in Memorial Park at 11 a.m. All welcome to come along and observe or join in. SUMMER PLAY SCHEME

Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Group will hold their annual Summer Play Scheme from Monday, July 25, to Friday, July 29, at Kilrane National School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Price €55 per child with Family rates applied. Our theme this year is the Circus and Street Performanc­e. It includes Drama, Write your own script, Stage Performanc­e, Dance class and performanc­e, Singing, Costume and Prop making, Makeup workshops, Outdoor activities, and Arts and Crafts, There will be a free performanc­e for friends and family at the end of the week, with tea and cake served. Cúl Camp 2016: Parents we have been advised that if you wish to send your child/children to Cúl Camp this year in Tagoat to please book online before the camps commence. The camps are being capped this year so book early to avoid disappoint­ment. Week one in Tagoat is from July 11 to July 15 and Week two in Tagoat is August 15 to August 19. See you there.

Mizen to Rosslare Cycle: Well done to Niall McDonnell and his team of cyclist who braved wintery conditions despite it being June to do the annual Cycle from Mizen Head to Rosslare Hbr in Aid of St Mary’s GAA Club and the Rosslare Hbr RNLI.

Puc Fada Competitio­n: Well done to Rees Broaders who represente­d us in the under-16 County Puc Fada competitio­n last week.

Sympathy: We extended Sympathy to the Kelly family from Killinick on the sad and untimely passing of their mother Doris Kelly. Doris was an avid supporter of the GAA and a fantastic club woman. May she rest in peace.

ROSSLARE RANGERS AFC

Rosslare Rangers AFC would like to thank all who helped make their fundraisin­g day on Saturday, July 2, such a huge success. All money raised on the day are going to Kilrane National School Additional Needs Unit.

To all all who played on the day including the teachers team, and teams from neighbouri­ng clubs, to the referee who gave up their time, and to the ladies who baked and sold cakes, raffle tickets etc., and manned the very busy tuck shop. Your support was greatly appreciate­d. To Rosslare Port, congratula­tions on the win, and hopefully we will see you again next year and finally to our own players, and members well done on a fantastic day, your efforts will make a huge difference.
