Cannonball supercars to roar into town again
SUPERCAR spectacle, Cannonball, is to roll back into Wexford next month, following the roaring success of last year’s event.
The largest ever Cannoball, featuring 190 supercars and novelty cars worth a total of €30m, will finish on the Quayfront in Wexford on Sunday, September 11, at 6 p.m. at the end of three days of driving along 900 kilometres of Irish roads.
Thousands turned out for last year’s Cannonball, for an opportunity get up close and personal with some of the world’s top mark cars such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Cannonball goes up a gear this year with 190 supercars. Over 150,000 people are expected to line streets across the country, from the start line at the Point Village in Dublin on September 9 through to the finish in Wexford.
The start and finish line at each host town will have an electric atmosphere featuring Las Vegas Show Girls, live music, DJs, The Monster Energy JAM Truck, local entertainers and dignitaries, confetti cannons, and lots of popcorn from sponsors Mahhattan.
A quarter of the supercars this year are coming in from the UK, Europe and even Dubai with the highest ever number of top mark cars worth an estimated €30 million including McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Last year soap stars from Coronation Street and Emmerdale were among the celebrities who rolled into Wexford with the Cannonball convoy, This year’s celebrity ambassadors include TV3’s Glenda Gilson and 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott.
Now in its eighth year, the Cannonball has raised over €850,000 for Irish charities and this year, proceeds go to Pieta House, the suicide and self-harm crisis service.
