WAVES MUSIC FESTIVAL

Inaugural festival at Loftus Hall, on the Hook Peninsula. Acts confirmed include country star Nathan Carter, boyband Hometown, Trevor Smith (the ultimate Garth Brooks experience), Cornerboy, and Elmore. Oulart Senior Citizens Committee hold a charity auction in Oulart Community Centre, beginning at 2 p.m. The organisers are appealing for donations of good quality saleable items that would attract buyers. Nature walk at Rostoonsto­wn as part of Heritage Week along the barrier separating Lady’s Island Lake from the Celtic Sea to see landforms, coastal wildlife, seabirds and wild flowers including the very rare Cottonweed. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. WALKING TOUR OF ENNISCORTH­Y’S INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE

As part of Heritage Week, learn about the town’s past industries such as brewing and milling, and of how river and rail facilitate­d trade. Discover what the physical built remains can tell us of the town’s thriving past. Starts at Enniscorth­y railway station carpark, 10.30am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm FREE ADMISSION AND FREE GUIDED TOURS OF TINTERN ABBEY

As part of Heritage Week, enjoy free admission to this 12th century monastery which was remodelled as a fortified home in the 16th century. Take a free guided tour and have a snack in the Tintern tearooms afterwards. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CRAFT FAIR AT JFK ARBORETUM

Taking the Summer season to a close for the pesky Pirates on the Peninsula, they will be given free reign of the lighthouse for just one day. A Heritage Week event at Hook Lighthouse, from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
