GAA BARN DANCE

The Ballyhogue GAA Barn Dance will take place in Byrne’s of Bree Grain Store this Saturday night, August 27. Tickets are only €15 which includes a barbecue, band ‘Denny Davitt and the Heartbeats’ and later bar with DJ. Strictly over-18s, ID required. Doors open at 10 p.m.

‘SEISIUN’ IN BREE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The ‘Comhaltas Seisiún’ Sessions, in associatio­n with Celtic Roots, finishes on Tuesday night next August 30 in Bree Community Centre. Sessions begins with the serving of scones and tea or coffee at 8.30 p.m. followed by a full programme of music, song, dance and Storytelli­ng. Cost is €10 for adults, €5 for children with concession­s for groups. For bookings and further details contact 087 7535354.

Congratula­tions to the 30 young people from the BreeDavids­town area who took part in the National Finals in Athlone last weekend. A total of seven gold medals, one silver medal and seven fourth place medallions were won by the athletes. Gold medal winners were Abbie Doyle in the under-10 100m and the under-10 Mixed Relay of Abbie Doyle, Gracie Kehoe, Tadhg Doyle, Oscar Redmond, Dylan Carr and Katie Nolan. The Silver medal winner was Gracie Kehoe in the under-10 Hurdles and fourth place medallion winners were Sophie Codd in the under-14 Hurdles and the under-15 Mixed Relay of Sophie Codd, Katie Whelan, Shane Kehoe, Daire Rochford, Conal Kervick and Claudia O’Neill. The under-12 Girls Relay of Emer Kervick, Leah Nolan, Yvonne Hennebry, Ciara Byrne and Aleisha Furlong, under-13 Mixed Relay of Lucy Kehoe, Donna Delahunty, Darragh Kehoe, Seán Fitzpatric­k, Anna Jevens and Ryan Whelan; under-16 Boys Relay of Peter Rodgers, John Kehoe, Oran Ffrench and Cian Wickham made their respective finals where the boys under-16 were pipped on the line into fifth place. Other individual­s taking part were Jayden Kenny: who got a medallion in the ‘B’ race of the under-eight 80m, Mairead Crean who ran well in the under-16 1500m and Erin Kehoe who beautifull­y performed ‘The Mother’ in the Recitation Competitio­n. Managers for the weekend were Una Doyle, Margaret Cloke Rochford, Jane Codd, William Spratt Murphy and Aine Doyle. Seven athletes training with Bree AC also competed in Athlone at the weekend for Oylegate, Glynn or Enniscorth­y. Darra Casey won a bronze medal in the under-14 Hurdles, Seán Rowley won a fourth place medallion in the under-12 100m as well as another fourth place medallion in the under-12 Relay with Shane Doran. Chloe Casey won a medallion in the under-eight ‘B’ 60m Final. Leah Bolger reached the semi-final of the under-eight 80m, Katie Doyle reached the final of under-10 200m and her brother Conor ran well in the under-14 800m. Well done to all involved, you made Co. Wexford proud.

BREE COMMUNITY CENTRE

All organisati­ons and individual­s using or wishing to use Bree Community Centre are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm bookings for use for the coming months. This is to avoid any confusion or double booking as the centre will be very busy as Clubs and groups recommence after the summer break.

WEXFORD ACADEMY OF IRISH DANCING

The Wexford Academy of Irish Dancing is returning to classes after the summer break. Classes will resume for all dancers in Bree Community Centre on Wednesday and Saturday, August 24 and 27. Times as normal. We are also enrolling new beginners on Saturday, August 27, at 10.30 a.m. We will also be starting an additional beginners class on Tuesday, September 6, in Bree Community Centre from four to five for girls and a boys’ class from five to six. OUR LADY’S ISLAND – PILGRIMAGE SEASON 2016

BREE CHOIR

Bree Choir will sume on Sunday, September 4. We encourage new members to join us every Sunday and also for our Christmas and Easter Choirs.
