ST FINTAN’S

A massive well done to the Minors hurlers who had an epic win in their Roinn 2 County Hurling semi-final last night vs Ballinastreagh Gaels in St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy. The lads got off to a slow start allowing the opposition to score two quick fire goals and several points within the first 15 minutes which left them trailing by three points at half time. A blistering start by the opposition in the second half took our lads to a seven point deficit at one stage but with solid hard team work and heart our lads clawed their way back to within two points with 10 minutes remaining. With end to end action, points scored and missed the game drew level with minutes remaining. Some nail biting stuff which looked certain to go to extra time, it was some clever team play right up through the field which resulted in the winning point for the lads of St Fintan’sOur Lady’s Island in the dying minutes of the game. A great game of hurling where no side deserved to lose but thankfully it was the boys in blue who secured their place in a county final. Well done to our under-12 hurlers who defeated Horeswood 2-06 to 2-03 in their semi-final. Well done to all involved. Our under-16 hurlers received a walk over in their quarter final and will now progress to the semi-final.

ST FINTAN’S LADIES

The St Fintan’s ladies’ club wishes to send its sincere sympathys to the club secretary Niamh Kehoe and her family on the sad passing of her father Tom Kehoe. May he rest in peace.

INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL

Tagoat was the venue for St Fintan’s final game in the Ashdown Park/Amber Springs Hotel intermediate football group B. This was a local derby with St Fintan’s taking on Kilmore in less than ideal conditions for football with high winds and a drizzel of rain. St Fintan’s played into the wind in the first half and got off to a good start scoring the first two points alas these were to be the Ballymore/Mayglass men’s only scores in this half and trailed 0-06 to 0-02 when the half time whistle sounded. Supporters of St Fintan’s expected their men to take over in the second half but this was not to be with Kilmore running out deserving winners on a scoreline of 1-08 to 0-05. St Fintan’s will now take on BannowBallymitty in the knockout stages of the championship. Vigil Mass at 8.15 p.m. Mass at 10 a.m.
